I've seen this before, it has been posted up here when it first came out. Bloody clever stuff imo. would like to see this implemented, probably not for another 15-20 years though in normal cars.

Thats incredible! 30% smaller, lighter, more powerful etc whilst up to 50% less emissions. Hopefully he's right and it'll be out in the next 3 years or so. This tech should also enable Nissan to keep the V6 in Zed cars whilst still hitting green targets etc :)

I was chatting to a knowledgable fella at work today and he said he though there was a similar attempt with solenoids back in the day, possibly lotus.

I thought Moto GP ran pneumatic valves and not solenoids?

 

Fingers crossed for the next few years, will be interesting to see who brings it out in a full production engine. That Saab must be worth a few pennies now with that upgrade :p
