Inner door handle replacements

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Most of the cars I've been looking at are a bit rough on the inside. Most of the dings seem to be on the inner door handles where the window controls are and the silver strut. How much are these to replace and is it easy?

Don't replace them, remove them and repaint

I was just reading something about this on an american forum. How easy are they to get off, bearing in mind I don't have a garage and can't park outside my house!

any recommendations for the paint?

Very easy to remove (just a few screws and clips). Many choose to wrap them with vinyl (myself included).

Easy to get off (I'm not mechanically gifted) first few steps of this guide for driver's then onto step 9 for passenger's.

I'm actually finding getting a spot on painted finish quite tricky, but I'm persevering.

RT sent me this when I asked about painting.

I had trouble too, orange peel city, even after lacquer. So I gave up, rubbed it down with about 1500 grit wet and dry and used whatever liquid polish I could find in the shed, came out great :)

Cheers for the tip. I actual picked up plastic primer & filler, leveller and rubbing compound in rattle cans today. Going to have another run at them. I'll bare your polish experience in mind. Ta.

any ideas where to get one though? Mine is broken and needs replacing :(

Try eBay or a breakers yard. Also I believe there are some traders on here who may be able to help you source one. On topic: I've been toying with the idea of having mine dipped after I saw some carbon fibre dipped handles on Super Stu's 350 I believe it was. There was a guy on here that used to do it for members but has since stopped but luckily I've found a local company who can do this type of thing very cheaply & there results look great on there site. Think I might give them a go once I've stopped paying bills. Here's there site for anyone interested; http://www.aquagraphix.co.uk/
