Vlad Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Decided to get some new wheel nuts as my current ones doing my nuts in Got this ones at the mo: http://bit.ly/ZmIiTx They quite good, but after few on and offs- paint scratches off and they go rusty:( My mate donated my exact same set, so I thought ill just put 1 set on and re-paint other one...and just will keep swapping them! But after spraying 1 set-went to put them on and paint just comes off So thought its time to invest in new bolts... Anyone would recommend any that don't rust? and just black ones! And I'm guesting not aluminium ones like D1 as not fancy having to cut them off etc lol In few words: black, strong, don't rust Any advice/suggestions/links would be great Quote
KyleR Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 (edited) Spray the spare set up and stick them in the office at about 160-180C for an hour, it'll harden the paint. Probably Edited September 18, 2013 by KyleR Quote
BillyZed Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 those wheel nuts are shite! i had them for about a month before 1 sheered the inside pattern so me and a mate had to smash a socket on it just to get it off!! kill them with fire! Quote
Stutopia Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I got some black mutekis off tarmac, look sweet and no sign of rust as yet. http://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/GB/Muteki_Super_Tuner_Closed_Wheel_Nuts/350z-MutekiSTClosed.aspx Quote
AliveBoy Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Had the same nuts and the thread on them came off from being done and undone so much, and yep, they went rusty too! I use the standard nissan ones again, they can go on and off as much as I want and they are deff strong. Quote

How long u had them for and how many times you had them off and on? Quote
KyleR Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Another thing to note if you repaint them - put a layer of masking tape around them when fitting or removing, that'll protect from being scratched by the socket. I'm actually after a set of orange tuner nuts with internal drive, this way I don't car if they get marked, because it'll be inside the nut. Quote

Lots with branding and who knows if its real or not, plus its not unheard of for suppliers to lie about the alloy grade they're using. Of course steel would be immeasurably better, but can't be anodised. Might just buy some internal drive tuners and paint them. Quote
Sized Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) It's interesting to see a lot of people recommend Mutekis. Maybe I'm expecting a bit much but mine have been on the car for maybe a year, off once and are looking pretty rusty and shabby - last winter seemed to kill them Tempted to go for some (admittedly much more expensive) Rays Duralumin nuts to replace them at some point.
