Hooch Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Already introduced myself in the introduction section but basically I have just bought a zed and pick it up on Thursday, was previously a member of a Impreza forum. Just thought I would set up a thread here that I can ask questions on stuff that's probably been posted a million times but I have not bee able to find! Oh, and show off every little mod I do on the new car, saves creating a load of topics! So Ill fire away with the first question, if upgrading the stereo (bose) will it mean I loose the function of the sat nav?

Although you can work around this by either wiring it to aux in (satnav sound but nothing else) or wire up a seperate small speaker, I did this but with an aftermarket satnav, got a £4 speaker from maplin and fitted it out of the way behind the dash, was loud enough with music on to hear

Need to work out what Bluetooth this thing has as its built in but not the add-on I have seen a lot of 350z owners with. Has anyone got any recommended double din head units, decent makes? Pref with the option to link up the steering wheel controls.

I don't need the voice personally, they're rather annoying when they repeat themselves!!

And....if fitting an aftermarket stereo (i.e. Alpine or Pioneer) will they have much effect on sound quality against the Bose head unit on the standard speakers? Edited August 1, 2013 by Hooch
BulletMagnet Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Rip out anything Bose related, speakers are papercones and the Bose headunit is actually a rebranded Clarion unit. If you want to do things step by step, then you may want to get line level boosters or do the Buster mod to retain decent volume and then upgrade speakers and amps later.
Hooch Posted August 1, 2013 Author Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) Been looking at the Buster mod and it looks pretty straight forward. Anyway, picked up the car today and could not be happier! Its the best car I have ever driven, absolutely amazing. Here she is: Completely standard so far. I bought some Mags metal polish after DoogyRev recommended it in the Introductions section. As you can see after only a short amount of time the lights were completely transformed: Before: After: I know they are different sides but both were as bad and I had only done one. I have some clear reflectors on the way, genuine Nissan ones for £25 so cannot complain! Edited August 1, 2013 by Hooch
Hooch Posted August 5, 2013 Author Posted August 5, 2013 Just wonder guys if any of you have any photos of a gun metal zed with clear reflectors? Wanted to change mine but I currently have smoked orange reflectors and didn't know how much of an improvement clear reflectors are.
Hooch Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 Ok, not many reply's there but found some and think it may be best to stick with the smoked orange, I may have a set of genuine Nissan clear reflectors going in the for sale section soon. On another note, the MOT is coming up and my mechanic I have been for years (as have the family) has stopped doing MOT's. Does anywhere know of a good place for car repairs/MOT's in the Bedfordshire area (Near Dunstable). Also, how much louder is the resonated Cobra system with the Y pipe over the standard system? Reading through threads it would appears its slightly louder which is what i'm looking for. So MOT place and Cobra, talk to me.....
