  1. Thanks for the tip... this solved my car problem.
  2. Thanks ZMANALEX, useful information as ever. Are you able to supply for front and rear? I'm not sure which ones the garage was saying were missing / not required.
  3. much appreciated. I'll give it a bash this evening.
  4. Hi, I have recently had a service where the engineer has cleaned the throttle body as it was gunked up. They also did a replacement of the sparks during the service. Since having the car back I have noticed the following. 1) the car now idles at 1250rpm where as before it was more 950 to 975rpm (this is when cold or warm) 2) when dipping the clutch to change gear the revs ramp up to 1950rpm which never use to happen (this is when warm) To help the engineer fault find the issue, would any of you knowledgeable lot have any ideas on why the car is behaving the way it is please?
  5. Hi All. I have had my brake pads and discs replaced all round recently and the garage said that there were no shims. They contacted Nissan and were told that the 350Z didn't have shims on the brakes. Is this correct or am I being fed a line please?
  6. every day is a school day, so thanks for that.
  7. Hi All. So I popped to my local Halfrauds yesterday eve, looking for some 5/30W oil and was amazed at the range. So what is the difference between XE and FE on the Mobil brand and C3 and C5 on the Castrol brand? I think is marketing BS, surely oil is oil. DC.
  8. I know they seem to have some ingenious ways to get their own way. Luckily it was persistently raining in Bristol last night so no feline fur to roll off with my lint roller this morning. Still need to try the black pepper trick.
  9. We had 3 cats, sadly all gone now. I am looking to move shortly, so it will hopefully not follow me 10 - 20 miles down the road. lol.
  10. Thanks for the suggestion. It's a pain having to cover the roof each night. Look at the brazen thing last night, it was still daylight!! https://i.imgur.com/xVLWlyG.jpg
  11. good suggestion, i will try that as a cost effective option.
  12. Hi All. I am wondering if anyone has a similar problem with their soft top. I have a local cat that has decided that my roof make an excellent place to sleep each night and so I am waking to copious amounts of fur that I am having to brush off each morning with a lint roller. Now this is working fine, but I am concerned that this little blighter might start to claw the roof material and you know where that could lead. So are there any suggestions (other than the obvious) of how to prevent / stop this? I have thought of: a) protective covering for the roof only (do they make such an item)? a supersoaker c) a high pitched noise maker that can be placed near the car somewhere on my drive Cheers, DC.
  13. have you got a close up photo of the centre brake light please? DC.
  14. Hi All. You may well be aware of the mobile phone policy change, but did you know that speeding rules are changing as well? http://blog.greenflag.com/2017/speeding-drivers/?uid=13593043 DC
  15. Hi Rickdon, where are those guys based? and would they cover the south west of the UK?
  16. Hi All. I seem to have some scratches on the passenger window that I would like to clear up. I hear that toothpaste can be used, but I think the scratch is a little deeper than that would work on. So has anyone tried this product: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Glass-Scratch-Repair-Kit-DIY-Polish-Window-Scratch-Remover-for-Glazing-etc-/380915073191?_trksid=p2141725.m3641.l6368 Cheers, DC.
  17. Hi All. So a quick update. It turned out that the noise was not the VLSD as I suspected (good job I'm not a mechanic!) It was a rear wheel bearing. Phew! Cheers,
  18. How many MOT test stations would just do the front brakes on the rollers and then haul the car off and test the rear ones on the road though? Is there any alert to the MOT tester that this should be done though?
  19. When I picked my car up from Nissan a couple of years ago and on the paperwork it said damage all round the front end, I was flabbergasted. I took a look at the car and there was a lot of scratches on the corner of the bumper NS. I immediately raised a complaint and asked to be shown the route that the car had been taken to get it into their workshop. They escorted me as far as the workshop shutters, but because of H&S I was allowed no farther. Safe to say that the culprit of the damage was never discovered and £500 to repair the issue was taken from my pocket. On a sidenote - is it a no no to have the 350Z brake tested on the rollers? shouldn't it be brake tested on the road with a proper brake gauge?
  20. i've had no issues in the past and to be fair this is the first time I have taken the car to a garage with a dashcam installed. I was interested in finding out the views from the hive mind that is 350Z UK Owners Club
  21. you can turn the display off, which is what I do as standard before starting my journey.
  22. this one - https://www.nextbase.co.uk/dashcams/312gw-dash-cam/
  23. Seemed like the best option as the dashcam was bought from there as a present.
