Anyone know how to do this? I assume you need an obd thingy? Mine idles at around 650rpm, a bit lumpily and easy to stall as a result (thats wot i'm blaming anyway). Strangely tho, my manual suggests an idle speed of 650.

Put the aircon on and it will idle higher. Not a solution but stops it trying to stall.

I'd suggest you have a dirty throttle body and a clean of that and a reset should do the trick. Its the cheapest option so worth doing first.

After that you may have worn plugs, are they due for changing?

Ive done some further reading on those eBay ones and found this, but looks like those ebay type ones wont work with the Z. I could be talking out of my A$$ though ;)

It works on all Nissan cars that have the grey 14pin Consult connector (you'll usually find it near the fusebox) (This cars are usually build from year 1989 to 2000) . Models such as: 300ZX, Z32, Maxima, 240SX, S13, S14, Skyline, SR20DE, SR20DET, RB20, Altima, Fairlady.

Thanks, done a tb reset and cleaned it recently, also new plugs - could try cleaning the maf, but it looks ok and very fragile!

Are the nissan consults on ebay ok? eg this one

Buy some electrical contact cleaner form halfrauds and use this on the maf, do not touch the "wires" inside

Ive also used carb cleaner (just because I had it to hand) and that worked too.

Was always advised not to direct the spray of fluid at the actual sensor, more on the material around it and let it splash onto the sensor itself.

I just leave the aircon on which ups the tickover which isnt a bad thing anyway to prevent bacteria build in then aircon and rubber pipes from cracking.

Thanks, tried the ac trick - no joy, maybe my ac isnt working, i also tried the idle air learn at the same time as the tb reset. Looks like a visit to a specialist.
