mbw100 Posted May 13, 2013 Author Posted May 13, 2013 (edited) its no can do from Nissan Edited May 13, 2013 by mbw100
Jetpilot Posted May 13, 2013 Posted May 13, 2013 its no can do from Nissan As mentioned earlier, make sure Nissan knows you are serious about establishing why the failure happened, not just a strongly worded letter or phone calls. Personally i would have parts tested by a metalurgist and gain reports from an independent specialist and also see if you can find other people who have had similar problems, a voice in numbers will always help and seems a few other members have mentioned issues earlier in the thread. Also worth mentioning forums. On a minor level i had a few problems years ago with Yamaha, it wasnt until i threatened testing of the failing part did they actually play ball. Good luck and dont give up there imho.

mbw100 Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 Zed well on the way to being repaired. Engine from Zmanalex, being fitted by Mark and the guys at Abbey Motorsport in the next couple of weeks. I'm off on holiday so will be a nice surprise when I get back
4RE Leather Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Great stuff, and glad its getting sorted for you.
Stevebetts Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Zed well on the way to being repaired. Engine from Zmanalex, being fitted by Mark and the guys at Abbey Motorsport in the next couple of weeks. I'm off on holiday so will be a nice surprise when I get back All at your own cost I guess? From the experience I have had with Nissan so far, they are a complete waste of time.
mbw100 Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 Oh yes, no help from Nissan. Not that I didn't try. Nissan's good will policy ends after 5 years. Might have more joy before that but after forget it as far as Nissan are concerned.
Flex Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) May I ask what sort of ball park figure you're looking at overall, no need to split out engine and fitting save giving away too much. Edited May 28, 2013 by flexib
mbw100 Posted June 20, 2013 Author Posted June 20, 2013 Thanks to zmanalex and Mark and Scott at Abbey Motorsport for getting the car back on the road. Picked her up on Tuesday after getting off the plane from Miami. Last time I saw the car was 1am 6 weeks ago in a puddle of engine oil so was great to see her all shiny. New engine definately sounds smoother so maybe something was a foot with the old one when I bought it. Moral of the story, HR engines are not indestructible! Get to know your car... check its oil regularly. If it runs to minimum you've already damaged it, to the point of oil light coming on definately too late. Being run low on oil before my time most likely cause of my woes. Run low on oil and you risk looking at a con-rod through your block and £££££ bill.
WhackyWill Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Glad its all sorted, Now enjoy it for the Summer. Zmanalex and Mark are tops.
Flex Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Happy for you mate, did the engine from Alex come with any guarantee period?
veilside z Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 glad it worked out for you mate, despite the cost.
