Beau Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Hey guys, thought I would shine some light of a common problem on these... Took her out of hibernation the other day and when she reached running temperature the fans didn't kick in and the temp slowly started to rise, tapped the fans and they sprung back into life, but not for long. Decided to do a short youtube clip on how to go about repairing them, hope it saves you all some money and time Hope it helped! Beau 5 Quote
Adrian@TORQEN Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Paid ZManAlex £400 for the two engines! Should save some pennies to others Nice! Quote
Stevebetts Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I will try this before parting with cash for the Mishimoto unit! Nice one. Quote
Adrian@TORQEN Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Can you make the video available on mobile as well please? Quote
Stevebetts Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Octet, I'm sure you could repair yours and sell them on eBay. At least you will get some cash back. Quote
Adrian@TORQEN Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Just finishing them now as we speak, clean them, putting the last one back, will upload some pics later, here's one Quote

Stevebetts Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Just done this procedure on my car. Top man Beau! 3 brushes stuck on one motor and 4 on the other. Freed them off and tested on the car using the AA test. All spins up good! Bit better than the £1050 Nissan wanted to charge me. Quote
ir655 Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Im going to give this a go as soon as the weather clears up here. None of my fans work either so I hope this is the fix for it Quote

Stevebetts Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Wasn't questioning your ability mate, it was a poke at Nissan. Quote
Dynamic Turtle Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) Abbey have just charged me £390 to replace one radiator fan inc parts & labour while doing the uprev/milltek/berk package. Not a cheap job so well worth doing the procedure above to save some serious wonga. I'd be tempted to have a go myself, but I'd probably just ruin it. 55k miles / 8 years is a decent innings for this kind of component I suppose. Might as well clean up the old one as per the guide and keep it as a spare for when the other motor goes. EDIT: they replaced BOTH fans for £390. Edited May 28, 2013 by Dynamic Turtle Quote

ir655 Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Update: took the motors out yesterday and 3 of the coal sticks were stuck on one and 4 on the other. Got them all cleaned up and reassembled and now both fans work! great write-up and easy DIY job. Cheers! Quote
