gort Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Hi Guys. These last few mornings, I've had the problem of the drivers side lock playing up, it opens OK using the fob, but when I get in and shut the door it won't stay shut, and the catch seems to be frozen, I've discovered by using the button on the inside door it eventually locks, but not before the lock goes mad by trying to lock&unlock, and then I find I can't get out!, so I have to clamber over the gear stick and get out of the passenger side, this is so annoying is there a remedy to this?. Thanks in advance. Quote
Goldcrest Four Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 A carefully targeted squirt of WD40 works wonders. (Assuming that you haven't already tried it). Good Luck, Quote
choptop Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 P*ss on it before you get in if all else fails .......................sorry couldn't resist it Quote
LRF4N Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 Happened to me mate when I had my zed. Very frustrating isn't it? I had a mechanic take the door card off to check it he said the lubricant had dried out in the locking mechanism. They dismantled it, lubricated it and reassembled and it was fine since Heard of it a few times on here Quote
gort Posted November 30, 2012 Author Posted November 30, 2012 thanks for the replies, I've squirted some WD40 into the key hole, and it's gonna be about -4% here tonight, so I hope that does the trick, I'll know tomorrow morning. Quote
Goldcrest Four Posted November 30, 2012 Posted November 30, 2012 It'll be interesting to hear how you get on Gort. Quote
gort Posted December 1, 2012 Author Posted December 1, 2012 -4 is that all looking @ your signature, I detect from that you have some connection with Canada,i suppose that -4% is approaching a heat wave over there , but 2 winters back it did get down to -18% in my neck of the woods, and I did'nt have any problems with the doors&locks what so ever, so can't understand why I'm having problems now? Beavis Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I always use a bit of killfrost oil used in pneumatics circuits at work. Quote

ioneabee Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I would think you need to squirt it into the lock mechanism, not the keyhole ? Quote
gort Posted December 1, 2012 Author Posted December 1, 2012 I would think you need to squirt it into the lock mechanism, not the keyhole ? I was hoping it would get to the lock mechanism, via the keyhole?...maybe not. Quote
