sukh13 Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 How do I put badges back onto the car? I want to take them off and modify it slightly and then put it back on. Any ideas? I was thinking some sort of 3m tape? Quote
Peter10 Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Most aftermarket badges like the "Z" badge have the adhesive backing, you just peel off the backing and stick it verrrryyy carefully . Quote
sukh13 Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 I have the Z burgers and the silver has flaked off. I am thinking of taking it off and then prying out the black middle bit and sticking it back on Quote
veilside z Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 double sided tape is best. if you take your badges off, and still retain the tape on the badge, use thin refix tape over the existing double sided tape... this is as long as the badge comes off clean with no chunks missing out the tape. Quote
sukh13 Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 Thanks guys. Are we talking about the thin white tape? I was thinking there must be thick foam like stuff? Quote
Zugara Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Thanks guys. Are we talking about the thin white tape? I was thinking there must be thick foam like stuff? Thin stuff Quote
coldel Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I just used the numberplate tape, stuck a load across the back, used a hobby knife to cut away the protruding bits and bobs your uncle Quote
spursmaddave Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Flea bay you can get thick foamy stuff or thin... Quote
sukh13 Posted May 7, 2012 Author Posted May 7, 2012 Got the badge off, loads of sticky crap left. Couldn't get it off with Isopropyl alcohol or clay bar Quote
MK-Ultra Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Try using a bit of methylated spirits, thats what i used to get it off. Put some on a rag, wipe over the sticky stuff and allow it to soak in a bit then rub of with the cloth. Then clean the paintwork after. Got the badge off, loads of sticky crap left. Couldn't get it off with Isopropyl alcohol or clay bar Quote
NeilMH Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 White spirit? Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover is good at getting sticky stuff off safely. Quote
Watshot Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Leave it to soak for a few minutes. You won't get it off straight away, and it may take two or three goes. As above glue and tar remover is best (as it is actually glue). Quote
ilogikal1 Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover is good at getting sticky stuff off safely. That, or Tardis. Quote
