djrm Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Hi everyone Bit of a strange one here. Has anyone else ever had a damp smell in their Z after a bit more rain than normal? I seem to have this problem now and am wondering whether or not there could be a leak? Is there a common leak point anywhere? I have looked around and can't find any water or dampness in the car at all... Any help would be appreciated! Thanks Ryan Quote
Ricey Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Is it when you put your air con on? Sometimes that gets a bit whiffy in damp weather Quote

Maybe time for a clean out and re-gas. A lot of people don't use their air con for months on end and then wonder why it is smelly or not working as well as it should, it is as much for moisture removal as a cold blast on a hot day and shoulder used all year round Quote
Neilp Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Recharging the system won't stop the smell. The smell is bacteria laying on the coil and in the drains an ducts. Don't use the a/c cleaning aerosols as they make a massive mess of the inside of your car and don't work. Make sure you use a decent one if you do. Quote

Sometimes that gets a bit whiffy in damp weather The smell for me usually occurrs if i turn the aircon off, having had it switched on for 10 mins or more. Have you switched it on to demist your windows when raining, and then switched it back off again? Quote
