How many litres of antifreeze..

Hi everyone im going to service my car tomorrow and i was wondering how many litres of antifreeze do i need to put it when changing the water?

It very much depends on the level of protection you want, check what the anti freeze manufacturer recommends, you should find details on the container.

I think its 10 or 11 litres for a full flush. I would need to check though.

Different manufacturers will have different diluation ratios. Also OP might be buying it ready mixed.

i just checked it and it says

1. bottle (antifreeze) + bottle (water) + bottle (water) --- -20^C

2. bottle (antifreeze) + bottle (water) --- - 36^C

 

I guess option number one should be ok, because i believe we wont see -20^C

 

however how many litres of water do i need to put?, for example if its 9 litres, i will be putting 6 litres of water and 3 litres of anti freeze with summer coolant.

The full capacity is 8.7 litres.

 

I purchased 'premix' coolant from Nissan so there was no stress about diluting the coolant with distilled water...

If you are flushing the system then you will require 2 x 5 lts of Nissan Pre Mix.

 

Otherwise a you will be safe at a 50/50 mix.

When I did mine it was an absolute pain to get the air out of the heater matrix. I found the best method was to raise the front of the car up so that the radiator cap was above the air bleed valve. You can then force coolant into the heater matrix and the air eventually comes out of the radiator. It takes a while, a lot of massaging coolant hoses and a lot of cursing to get done.

Is anti freeze used to prevent cracks from happening within the engine due to expanding ice water? Or is it because you guys are acutally crazy enough to use a 350z when it's -20c outside?
