Carlin Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Woke up this morning to see frost out side !! Very nice it looks but means it will soon be time to put the bling bling wheels away for another year . The car looks so much better with them on . I hate winter !!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
DoogyRev Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 .. Spring will be just round the corner Quote
Stew Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I can't wait for the snow! That's when the car adventures start! Woooooooo! Quote
seamybaby Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I never understood why people take wheels off for the winter.... A buckey of hot soapy water couple of times a week and a good coat of protective wax always works for me...... . seamy Quote

Anything with a chrome lip will die in scotland in a winter Quote
Carlin Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Mine come of every winter !! Chrome lip cant be good with all the grit on the roads . Also it gives me great pleasure putting them back on in the summer woohooo !!!! Quote

Carlin Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Mine will be of next weekend as the gritters have been out this weekend . Not sure on your wheels mate but mine will be washed and waxed and tucked away for winter . Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 ive got Rota GTRs but also a set of oem 17s as well would mine be ok??or is it worth changing them over? and when is everyone doing theres? is if you put winter tyres on them before swapping over. Quote
Carlin Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 What do you mean ?? I put my old wheels on . Quote
jumping350 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 thats what i was thinking there on bridgestones and i never fancied them in the dry!!!!wht you reckon for winter tyres then?Falkens? Quote
DoogyRev Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 thats what i was thinking there on bridgestones and i never fancied them in the dry!!!!wht you reckon for winter tyres then?Falkens? If you have a spare set of wheels for the winter get a set of proper winter tyres on them. Have a search in the Tyre section, there are a few threads on the subject Quote
rtbiscuit Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 thats what i was thinking there on bridgestones and i never fancied them in the dry!!!!wht you reckon for winter tyres then?Falkens? they are summer tyres, i have had falkens on several cars through the winter and they've faired ok, but no where near as good as a set of winter tyres. the difference is like night and day. if your swapping just to protect your expenisve alloys then fair enough, but if you want to swap them so you can drive it in any weather with confidence then proper winter tyres with a winter tread and compound is required. i believe rarerims was doing a good deal on yokahama winter tyres on the forum recently. Carlin Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Dont really use the zed in the winter . Got a ten year old audi A3 with four wheel drive which is ace in the snow .Never even been stuck in it . Happy days . I use the zed at the weekend only really . Quote
jumping350 Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 at least you got that as an option wish i had a second car 4wd to get around Quote
Stew Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 at least you got that as an option wish i had a second car 4wd to get around A 4wd on rubbish tyres will be no use though. You need good rubber on any car to give you a fighting chance in the winter. Quote
jumping350 Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 very true i think im gonna give the goodyear ultragrips a go this winter on my jdm 17s see how i get on hopefully a lot better than the bridgestones last year!!! Quote
Carlin Posted November 7, 2011 Author Posted November 7, 2011 Ive got falkens the same as i have on the zed and it goes anywhere and have never got stuck .Even last year with the really bad snow my wee audi did the business . I even had mould masters on it before the falkens and its great in the snow !!! Quote
