Something you don't see every day

Had this thing flying just outside our office doing a little display. Was down as a 2500ft fly-past but he ended up going much much lower i.e. probably 100m and close to some trees at points!

Fantastic. I live quite close to an RAF base and you see one here now and again. They sound absolutely awesome too

yeah, the noise was really impressive. It was a tribute to the last designer of the Spitfire dieing. The spitfire was designed in one of the offices at work.

I once saw a mock dog-fight between one of these and a Meschersmitt - awesome.

The same airshow featured the Mosquito - with its two Merlin engines it was the only thing that sounded better than the Spitfire.

The Spitfire is and always will be my favorite aircraft, a true piece of British History.

 

I remember seeing these at Biggin Hill airshow when i went to them with my Dad.

 

The noise of the merlin was the most amazing sound too.
