mugwump Posted October 23, 2006 Posted October 23, 2006 Slightly off topic for this thread I know it has been commected before that even the genuine rear nismo spats look a bit "stuck on" but how does the kit affix to the car? Is it really a double sided sticky tape job or is there something more sustantial? Quote

Martyn Posted October 24, 2006 Author Posted October 24, 2006 Cheap @*!# yeah thats what i though, get what you pay for an all that! Quote
sl114 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 So they are bad then? What makes them bad? Poor moulding? not smooth? flimsy? Quote
sl114 Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 no fixing holes to, bugger to fitOh right! Thats a big issue then. Quote
Mrcofpep Posted October 24, 2006 Posted October 24, 2006 I put a non genuine Veilside kit on a Supra. Looks the dogs dagglies when finished but what you save on the kit you pay for it getting it fitted, sprayed and bonded to the car. It also needed hacking around with because it didn't fit properly. Absolute nightmare. Also fibre glass kits are not as forgiving as the orginal plastic type from Nissan which are flexible. The slightest knocks on fibreglass means back to the body shop! Don't do it! Very true, the trouble i have with cracked paintwork on the vette is crazy. Quote
Rob2005 Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Correct me if im wrong but the Nismo kit is fibreglass isnt it?? Quote
ir_fuel Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 Read something about that too somewhere... Quote
Removed Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 indeed it is. you can source plastic parts though whether they are copies or Nismo US ones (ie my wing is plastic not fibreglass, baps' front bumper is urethane and is a Nismo style part etc) Quote
ir_fuel Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 so Nismo US = plastic Nismo JP = fibreglass and what are the diffs between US and JP except for the rear spoiler? I guess a rear spoiler in fibreglass isnt really a problem, are you are unlikely to hit sth with it or stonechip it Quote

I guess a rear spoiler in fibreglass isnt really a problem, are you are unlikely to hit sth with it or stonechip it US Nismo bumper is just an add on lip to the original bumper Quote
ir_fuel Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 so either, addon lip but solid, or full bumper much more prone to chipping/damage ... now there is a nice choice to make Quote
Sarnie Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 so either, addon lip but solid, or full bumper much more prone to chipping/damage ... now there is a nice choice to make My bumper is no more prone to stone chipping, in fact I hardly have any Quote
ir_fuel Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Yes, but to have stone chips you need to drive your car faster than 20mph Quote
Sarnie Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 Yes, but to have stone chips you need to drive your car faster than 20mph Trust me I do Quote
Removed Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 skirts are different shape too, the bulges on the US ones are more pronounced Quote
