philb1965 Posted January 9, 2011 Share Posted January 9, 2011 I recently bought a G220 and plan to have a go improving the paint condition on my daughters Toyota Aygo before I do the Z Now I usually clay then use megs step 1 paint cleaner by hand on a full clean. I'd like to use the DA to take some of the strain out of it but I'm not sure about a couple of things. What paint cleanser could I use with the DA? Any recommendations other than the step1? I've only got one polishing and one finishing pad. I'm guessing I'd use the polishing pad for the cleaner but would I then need to clean it before applying polish? Envy Valeting Posted January 9, 2011 Share Posted January 9, 2011 Hi Phil, I'd recommend Dodo Juice Lime prime if the paint is less than perfect ie the odd swirl/scratch/oxidation etc. If the paint is pretty swirl free I'd plump for Lime prime lite. Lime prime has microabrasives, and the lime prime lite doesn't. I've been thinking about it and initially for that I don't need a cleaner as I'm going to use some Megs Ultimate Compound on it. Is that right? Once it's improved I guess I'd just need the lime prime lite to clean. I don't want anything abrasive on the Z as it's fairly swirl free. So I guess I just need another yellow polishing pad and lime prime lite? I'll then top it off with either SRP or poorboys EX-P and a coat of HD Wax. Took about 20-30 mins to apply the Megs with the machine but I applied the wax by hand as wasn't really sure how to get the Dodo Juice Wax onto the pad!.....I washed, polished, waxed, hoovered, gliptone cleaned/conditioned leather and tyre blacked the both Lancer and the Zed over about a 7 hour period It got to that horrific point of the day where winter dusk sets in and the condensation was sitting on the car before I could get the wax off......I feel like I've been rogered by Mr Miyagi!! Yes once you've ultimate compounded you should only need Lime prime lite from there on in, but its recommended usage is bi-annually so you wount have to do it too often. I have another yellow pad, if you want me to put one to one side? Wheel cleaner wise depends if you have chrome or a non standard finish? If you have the standard powder coated wheels I'd recommend Espuma Revolution which comes in 1 or 5L sizes, dilutes 10:1 and I love it. https://www.envyvaleting.com/products_info.asp?id=152 If you do have more exotic wheels I'd suggest one of the Wolfs Chemicals products. 1 is a straight forward cleaner https://www.envyvaleting.com/products_info.asp?id=239 works well, smells vile and is 1L volume but its not dilutable The other they do is a clean and coat, https://www.envyvaleting.com/products_info.asp?id=240 Personally speaking I'd suggest going for something like the Revolution, and get a special sealent as in the long run will work out to be better value https://www.envyvaleting.com/products_info.asp?id=255 I know the rim sealent seems a small bottle but you use so little per application and I've been impressed with it in testing.
