Removed Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 from across the pond: "New engine cover design New strut tower bar design Event data recorder New hood design Bridgestone tires Power door lock icons are bigger Blue tooth No more track model Sliver stone is replaced with Carbon Silver; San Marino Blue, Solar Orange Side seat mounted Air bags std on enthusiast Model 306hp 268 lb/ ft. tq Tentative release date: December 14th / Tentative price release date: December 13th Could be earlier, could be sooner Info courtesy of nissan consumer affairs" bonnet looks abysmal, must mean the VQ35HR dual intake wouldn't fit! Wonder when's that going to happen for UK Zeds... Quote
Removed Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 sounds like it, bonnet also looks very much like the new GT-R.... will that mean a VQ35HR-TT in the new GT-R? Quote
ir_fuel Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Weird stuff, but US market only for now i guess? Will prolly come to europe somewhere 2008? Quote
Removed Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 wouldn't be too sure about the "US market only" with regards to this type of changes (engine, etc). Not economically viable to market 2 different engines and 350Z, plus Nissan IIRC have always flagged the 350Z as a global car. Also, look at the 2006 changes, they all came over here too... Quote
lomoto Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Val this must be a wind up post?? that bonnet is terrible Quote
Removed Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 don't think so mate... hope to be proved wrong myself Quote
lomoto Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 What they gonna call it the Fairlady HUNCH FRONT ?? Jesus thats one ugly front aspect Quote
Rob_Quads Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Don't like that bonnet. It removes the 'slick'ness of the look. To have a buldge like that you expect a real monster inside i.e. 400+bhp not just a different engine cover Quote
Removed Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 well the engine IS going to be different (read my posts about the VQ35HR) but the power increase seems to be minimal and definitely in my books it wouldn't warrant that horrible bonnet Quote
lomoto Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 I can see our model cars achieving classic status sooner than expected if the new model looks like this Quote
Wa_Wa Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Yep, the bonnet does not look good. I like the looks of the wheels though... but that maybe down to the beer goggles I'm wearing at the moment... Quote
Removed Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 wheels are the ones on Sarnie's car aren't they? (ie the GT4s) Quote
Removed Posted October 7, 2006 Author Posted October 7, 2006 aren't the new 5 spokers ones standard in the US? (the ones with the dots on each spoke) edit: those ones are the ones on the Track and grand-touring models Quote
Mathys Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Don't like the bonnet either. For you guys with a 06, don't worry, it's not worth it to upgrade to a 07. Quote
M13KYF Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 yep bonnet is horrible, Hope they tweak it for when it's released for over here otherwise I can see a increase on afternarket ones Quote
Trev-the-Rev Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Got to agree, the bonnet is pants. But I also like the look of the wheels and I think the carbon fibre grille slats are new as well. Quote

lomoto Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 strange how even on the show car the filler cap is a different colour to the bodywork Quote
Removed Posted October 8, 2006 Author Posted October 8, 2006 strange how even on the show car the filler cap is a different colour to the bodywork 2 different materials very close to each other, you are going to see a difference Quote

Don't know where is says CF but looks just the same as the MY06 slats It doesn't state there're CF, but they look like it to me. Maybe it's the lighting or my fading eyesight due to old age Quote
polarbear Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Agree with all above that the bonnet (hood ) is shocking, but it's probably all about new pedestrian safety regs. I really hope it doesn't make it to the UK looking like that. Quote
CDR_UK Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Thanks for the pics. I guess the new hood design is to accomodate the new strut bar design (which probably had to be raised in the middle to fit the new engine cover), and which probably doesn't fit under the old bonnet. Quote
Digsy Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 Hmmm. Have to agree the bonnet is grim. What happened to the styling lines of the original? The big amorphous blob in the middle is entirely out of keeping with the edgy styling. Quote
