Not economically viable to market 2 different engines and 350Z, plus Nissan IIRC have always flagged the 350Z as a global car. Also, look at the 2006 changes, they all came over here too... I guess the new hood design is to accomodate the new strut bar design (which probably had to be raised in the middle to fit the new engine cover), and which probably doesn't fit under the old bonnet.
