Clay bar lubricant?

I've ran out of Meguirs Quick Detail lubricant which comes with their clay bars.

 

What do people use as a cheaper alternative?

Meguiars Last Touch Detailer, as found here. Lasts for aaaaaaaaages.

 

 

Failing that, if you're desperate any of the detailers that Halfrauds sell will do (I think they do an NXT one as well).

Just for clarification, this is to be used as a lubricant for the clay bar, not as a detailer.

That's exactly what I use for lubricant, nothing else.

water in extreme curcumstances, but as said before any kind of detailer will do. does not have to be an expensive make just for lube.

I used DJ Red Mist (marketed as a QD) with DJ supernatural clay and it degraded the clay making it all mushy.

 

Since then I've returned to Sonus lube- (which is also a QD) not the cheapest but IMHO the best and excellent for getting the bug stains that even PB Bug Splat leaves behind

TBH you dont really need clay lube. I use DJ born slippy but after that use a stong shampoo and water mixture. Its really good.

Spot on! Dilute it 5:1 as a clay lube, 2:1 to aid drying and neat as a detailer.

But whats so special about it ? Why is it different ? What would happen if I used modelling clay? Would my Zed look like a 6th formers tea cup ? A relief map of Niagra falls ?
