What octane fuel

What octane fuel should be used in the zeds? Is it ok to use the lower octane fuel??????????????

no, use 97 and above. as stated in the manual and i believe also backed up by abbey.

shell v-power seems to be most people's favourite tipple, although i hear good things about tesco's high octain stuff...

 

i personally use bp ultimate as it happens to be the nearest petrol station to me bar sainsburys (and i'm a nectar points whore!)

Use either V-Power or Tesco 99 - Tesco more often now because its closer.

I work in the fuel industry, and no i dont get free fuel, I have inside information that "JET" fuel is high octane as standard and has better addatives than any other.

All the big boys, BP,SHell, Esso etc are of equal quality but you pay higher prices for higher octane and their addatives are not at strong as jet.

Tescos, Asda etc fuel, although slightly cheeper is lower standard than the bigboys fuel. IE. less addatives, just enough to make it upto high octane rating.

Did anyone see the fifth gear test? they tested tesco 99, shell V power and BP Ultimate and the V power come off a fair bit better showing bigger BHP gains than the others with BP being second and tesco's 3rd

I just go to whoever is cheapest for the high octane stuff. I wonder how much it is going to cost per litre for 'our tipple' come this summer . Prices are going up all the time

Sort of on the same theme, is it usually BP that leads the price hikes as it in this end of the pond?

the fuel industry work in a system called a cartel, where they discuss between themselves and roughly set the price. although they can't admit this as its highly illegal.

 

bit like what the oil industry do as well.

 

and even on the forecourts.

 

i used to work for sainsburys petrol station as a student and we used to ring round all the local garages to find out their price, and vice versa we used to get phone calls asking the same question. although no one would say they were calling from another petrol station, everybody knew who it was.

 

fuel isn't standardised either. you could pick 20 bp garages around the country and it would be unlikely to find the fuel at the same price at any of them.

 

if an area is affluent, then they charge more. same with food prices as well

 

which ever way you look at it we get screwed. i use tesco because it close and its cheap. i used to use BP which is next door to tesco, but its more expensive. and as for points i was collecting nectar, but am currently doing clubcard as the points are paying for 2 nights in a hotel for my brothers wedding.
