sketch Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 was looking at the 06+ airbox design and notices that my intake pipe id slightly differant from the pics i keep seeing, half way along the plastic intake pipe the its a 1" take off tube that appears to do noting and go nowhere? if you dont know what im talking about ill get a pic, but if you do, i just wonderd what the point of it is? does it make it quieter or something? Ian Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Need a pic of it If its the one I think it is then it runs around the back of the engine block Quote
andlid Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Need a pic of it If its the one I think it is then it runs around the back of the engine block the little one on the main pipe, not sure might be for 'quick' air response, is that not on the 06 box? Quote
andlid Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 the one behind the back is breathing pipe for the engine no? That you 'could' put a oil catch can... think I need to do that on mine next. Quote
Ian Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 That pic has confused me now, whats the additional pipe on the top? mine doesn't have that Quote
Husky Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 the one behind the back is breathing pipe for the engine no? That you 'could' put a oil catch can... think I need to do that on mine next. why? whats the purpose of said tank? Quote

Yes, thats where one of the hoses for my ARC can goes why? whats the purpose of said tank? it catches blow-by oil & is a bit of bling You would be surprised at how much oil does actually get caught in there Quote

Husky Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 does that not get cycled back anyway? and where does it go? back in the sump? Quote

andlid Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 does that not get cycled back anyway? and where does it go? back in the sump? well it goes into the air and then gets burned in the engine resulting in 'nice' black pufff when when you accelerate hard. Quote

clarkie34 Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 It gets trapped in the can and needs emptying. Quote
andlid Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 Man I need to do painting class or something my take in it is that it uses that extra tube for extra air going into the TB. Lets say you accelerate hard and air is the blue in the airbox you then let off and air is still in that little tube, you then accelerate hard again and it sucks the extra air from the little tube in addtional to the main airflow blue and red lines... Not a clue really... guessing. Quote
andlid Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 this is what I'm getting next for the air side, have the one for the plenum side. http://www.350z-tech.com/zwiki/Build_yo ... _Catch_Can Quote
