WHERE DID THE SUCCESS OF MARRIAGE JOKE THREAD GO?

I'm just wondering where our success of marriage thread has gone?

I've noticed a few references to it by mods recently and I understand some people thought it a bit OTT / waste of time - but it kept all the daft sexist jokes in one place. It was a laugh and was self moderated by those taking part..........the couple of times anyone stepped over the line they were held accountable by the other participants. I think Stew had to remove one phallic image.

Its not as if it has even just been locked - it is gone - with no discussion or reason given.

As usual its me thats complaining :D but no-one else ever seems to bother incase they get flamed - I am not impressed.

I moved it Vik. I felt it had run its course. Nobody had posted on it for a week.

I agree it was good keeping it all in one thread but stepping back and looking at it, it's not the type of thread you'd want a kid reading is it?

I enjoyed the jokes but it was on a cliff edge in the end and we were just waiting for it to go over the edge.

Should be noted it was a team decision too :)

+1 Was getting a bit close to the edge at times and i remember warning that it may get locked. It may seem heavy handed but every now and again we feel we have to bring the forum back on course like we did over the weekend with various posts and threads getting out of control. The last time we did this was when the forum was becoming overrun with babe of the day threads that where swamping the forum. Its for the best. :)

I would hope it was a team decision...

I think if the reason was the content then it should have been made clear a lot earlier - I even ran some of the more 'close to the bone' jokes past mods before I posted. There was no pornographic content or graphic images. If a young person read the posts and understood them then no harm done in IMHO.

I can assure you in terms of child protection and internet safety there were no issues ...if that was what the team is worried about check out CEOPs guidance - www.ceop.gov.uk

To let it run for three months and then decide to pull it seems a bit off to me...I just wanted to highlight the fact that there was zero discussion or reason given - appreciate your responses :)

i agree with Vik - it kept all that type of jokes in one place and had become (for some of us) a bit of male/female competition and banter and was generally a good laugh. It was also VERY easy to avoid if you were sick of it or not interested as you knew exactly what it was when it popped up again. If anything got close to the mark then it could have been deleted. I'm a bit disappointed at that decision to be honest.

I invested a lot of time and effort into that !

What's happening around here lately - it was a bit of fun for christs sake

Your taking things too seriously

So should we all stand down and just let everyone post what they want then? I am happy to do that but i bet the forum soon goes down bank. This forums success is down to a great member base run by a dedicated team that have steered the forum to great levels of popularity in recent years. I am sure the right decision was made, we make the decisions based on what we think the members want. So if you want his sort of thing on your car forum then say so and i will happily stand down :)

This is great :#1::#1::yahoo:

Can I cum in your ear ?

No I might go deaf

He says:

Funny I always cum in your mouth and you never shut the f*ck up

But surely if the post is within the 'offtopic' section then those members that wish to avoid that, and similar threads, can just click the new 'View unread posts' button and those that want to view these type of threads can click the button next to it to include all OT threads, thus meaning that the member has the choice whether to avoid it or not and not just be 4/5 mods who decide what 4000 members want to read?

Dave - I completely agree with your statement on the team's efforts - you all give a lot of your time - and I know that sometimes you feel the non-car related stuff is detrimental to the forum...

That joke you're highlighting there was very close to the bone and Tarmac was hauled up by us all immediately (as he was on several occasions if I remember  )

But if the team thinks that it is what members want I would suggest a vote :)

Thats total bollox Nixy, that is not the case

I think thats a bit harsh TBH. What you guys have to remember is that there are people on this forum that dont voice their opinion in public. We have a very broad member base and we have to try and keep everyone happy. Now I think we all agree that most of the time we do a pretty good job. All the mods/admins are also human, and like a good laugh just like you lot. Just in hindsight we sometimes decide that a thread is maybe pushing it a bit much for some members. Remember that people can stumble across this forum whenever, and not everyone knows that thread is a joke thread etc. We dont want new members straying into it and being offended. Now I beleive that thread in question hadnt had a post up in a week, so the decision was made that as it was close to the bone and not now active, we removed it as we though it had served its course.

You guys make the decisions as you are perfectly entitled to do - it just seems to have been a very strange few days recently and I would hate to end up doing the same thing that I do on other forums - click into it, have a 30 second look, click out..........

i would say it should come back and the offending material moderated. i.e put "removed" in place of tarmacs joke mentioned. then we learn where the line is and dont overstep. i dont want to come down on the mods, its a hard and thankless job but sometimes can they maybe be wrong?

sorry mods :(

You can hardly accuse the team of been hard line though, the members have a very good time of it on here and you get away with an awful lot but every now and again a thread gets out of control like the underwear thread and then the team step in to steady the ship and to be fair its only then that one or two threads get pulled or locked when we have a bit of a clamp down. ;)
