CARBON FORZA Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I just picked up a white Z on '08 plate with 6k miles on the clock. Car has been abused - paintwork scratched, underbody slight damage - probably came off the track few times. When started there's a high pitch noise coming from gearbox, clutch down - goes quiet. When engine is cold it's almost impossible to engage 2nd gear but when nice and warm no trouble there but... clutch gets jerky, almost as if it was twin-plate with no biting point... if down changing at a speed 2nd gear temperamental - if I try to swap it too quick it won't go in.... mighty crunch my ideas: *clutch *thrust bearing *...??? and there's slight rattling noise from underneath.... any suggestions? IanS16 Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 I think thats just something that you are going to have to put up with mate, a few peoples cars are like that including mine Quote
CARBON FORZA Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 you see - I don't mind. If that's the way it supposed to be than that's ok. I was worried that something went wrong. It's as if it doesn't like light feet - it's gotta be nailed and than it's happy... I can't say it's a problem Quote
BulletMagnet Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Of course when nailing it, make sure the engine is sufficiently warmed up before going past 3K rpm. Good indicator is either the temp gauge (at just under halfway) or the oil pressure gauge (at just about one quarter at idle). Quote
Lexx Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Its what the people at Nissan helpfully call "a feature"..... Quote
CARBON FORZA Posted May 28, 2009 Author Posted May 28, 2009 I take it you have checked the gearbox oil level? yeah.... I knew I'd better start at something simple... I'll have a go at it tomorrow - cheers! Quote
sunset350z Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Its defo not right. The car is still under warranty so get Nissan to sort it out. Quote
