I just picked up a white Z on '08 plate with 6k miles on the clock. Car has been abused - paintwork scratched, underbody slight damage - probably came off the track few times. When started there's a high pitch noise coming from gearbox, clutch down - goes quiet. When engine is cold it's almost impossible to engage 2nd gear but when nice and warm no trouble there but... clutch gets jerky, almost as if it was twin-plate with no biting point... if down changing at a speed 2nd gear temperamental - if I try to swap it too quick it won't go in.... mighty crunch :headhurt:

my ideas:

*clutch

*thrust bearing

*...???

and there's slight rattling noise from underneath.... any suggestions?

you see - I don't mind. If that's the way it supposed to be than that's ok. I was worried that something went wrong. It's as if it doesn't like light feet - it's gotta be nailed and than it's happy... I can't say it's a problem ;)

Of course when nailing it, make sure the engine is sufficiently warmed up before going past 3K rpm.

Good indicator is either the temp gauge (at just under halfway) or the oil pressure gauge (at just about one quarter at idle).
