Sports CAT (Hi-Flow)

I am getting tempted by these at the same time as fitting my 5Zigen exhaust, but i have 3 main questions :-

 

1. Will it make much difference to the Noise, Response or anything else noticable?

 

2. Any Downsides to fitting these?

 

3. What ones have you guys used and would reccomend, and can be got in the UK? I have read threads about them cracking exhausts, is that just some models or all?

i had kinetix on mine and they sounded awesome and didnt effect the sensors, i think kevin @ envy do them and i presume big phil @ ESR will do something simalir

Kenitx and 5zigen Pro Racer on mine. Had no issues thus far.

 

Noise is amazing If you havnt got the plenum spacer get that done at the same time!

 

Oh and you are getting the y-pipe too arnt you?

 

Envy do stock these parts and I belive they may have some ready to fit

also have the kinetix (paired with nismo exhaust) - they add quite a bit to the sound of the nismo, as people behind me in the tunnels on the way to brighton a few weeks back will attest..

 

they should allow for greater airflow through the exhaust system of course, and I have had no trouble with sensors with mine (which were installed by the local muppet) which I have had on for over a year now..

Heard Hi-Flow Cats reduce torque, any truth in that?

Not hiflows as they still give back pressure... It may have happened to some but this can be caused by an illfitting joint and air leaking.

 

It can happen if you go straight through with test pipes!

ive the got the kintex cats on mine, found that when the zorst is not hot there a little raspy, makes the car sound a little like an E46 M3, but keep them warm and they sound lovelly

Sound first, but depending on what other help you have like a piggyback, they can help a little as they are more free-flowing than stock

cheers mate ill just buy the plenum spacer for now then as i think this is the best way to get some extra power and a lot cheaper than a ECU

It all helps a little bit when put together... ANd then when its done piggyback it to make up the updates work!

ive got a 54 Jdm roadster does the Jdm ECU cancel it out as well

Decats will. I lost 40 ft/lb with decats in, Sounded amazing though

I think it was only the early 02-03 cars that didnt

I use Ninja Tune Factory in Newport. Hes been looking after my car for 2 years now, wouldn''t take it anywhere else

What are the ball park prices for high flow cats? Assume there is no difficluty in swapping them out i.e. whole exhaust doesnt have to come off

I think they were around £300.

i checked envy and there around £450

 

ebay were about the same.
