Brake caliper paint - cleaning first?

Hi Guys,

 

Im going to be painting my calipers this week probably - what should i clean them with first??

 

Im not gonna be removing the calipers or pads etc, so it needs to be a paint on cleaner...

 

...and before you all start - i've got JDM brakes so im not doing anything sacrilege!

On previous cars I've just used a good stiff steel brush and some Wynns brake cleaner. Never had a problem with that combo, and that was using cheapo Halfrauds paint too.

Any decent wheel cleaner and a striff brush will do the job. If it doesn't come off with a stiff brush chances are its staying on for life so painting it will be fine.

What colour are you painting them?

Painting them silver. Got black wheels with a chrome lip coming this week hopefully, so going to go with a black & silver theme across the car - so will be tinting the windows later in the summer.
