buckmoy Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 just wondering (did a search but couldn't find it anywhere..) whats the top speed when the 155 limit is removed? on a non-modded 350z coupe. pre 06. Quote
Removed Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 "officially" in the book I received from nissan as a freebie it stated 167 Quote
l33r0y Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I read somewhere the theoretical speed based on gearing was 182mph+ That'll be the pub figure I'll be quoting then... Quote
Guest prescience Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Pump the redline of 6450 or is it 6500 and the gear ratios below into http://www.geocities.com/z_design_studi ... ssion.html 2003 350z MT 1st 3.79 2nd 2.32 3rd 1.62 4th 1.27 5th 1.00 6th .79 final drive 3.54 tyre size 245x45x18 Quote
Marki Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 Attached is my Excel spreadsheet showing speed and torque @ RPM in each gear for MY06 and MY03. Upper table shows speed in mph @ RPM in each gear based on 88mph @ 6600 rpm (=93mph @ 7000rpm) in 3rd gear, from: http://www.testdriven.co.uk/print.cfm/news/914. Lower panel shows comparative torque figures read by eye off graph from Nissan Japan website, therefore only approximate. Comparative means that figures shown for 5th gear (ratio = 1.000) equal torque at crank, torque in other gears adjusted by gear ratio. MY03 redlines @ 6600 rpm, MY06 @ 7000 rpm, coresponding in 6th gear to 180 and 191 mph respectively, but stock Z engine will run out of puff long before that. If I remember righly, when Evo mag tested the MY03 for Vmax it didn't even hit the 155mph limiter. There I go again... Quote
eddmac Posted April 11, 2006 Posted April 11, 2006 If I remember rightly, several chaps have managed to achieve over 155mph (on speedo and GPS) without hitting any limiter - noone has ever scientifically proven this though. I would imagine that if EVO had managed to change up from 4th they would have achieved a better speed - maybe they were only using a short stretch of road - it would take some stretch to achieve 155mph in almost ANY car IMHO Quote
Space Cadet Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 Would be interested to find out, cant belive its 'only' 155 as the car is still pulling at 140!? Quote
Rish Posted April 12, 2006 Posted April 12, 2006 I know 1 zed owner who got 171 on GPS I presume this is a "friend" of yours??? PS: I know one too!!! Quote

hagar Posted April 13, 2006 Posted April 13, 2006 112mph if you got a jdm (and no derestrictor) Quote
jim Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Just done a search and come across this thread. I have a JDM, and there appears to be a limiter at around 120. What is the de-restrictor and how do I get one? Quote

What is the de-restrictor and how do I get one? get a HKS speedlimit defencer ,costs about £180 Put one on my JDM, works spot on !! got mine of Ebay ,make sure it is compatable with 350Z as there are several different types Quote
SwissZ Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Picking my roadster up on Friday. I do a lot of driving in Germany so I'll definitely be able to test to the limit..... legally! Ah.... how long should the engine be run in for? Quote

jim Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I've just looked on the funkystyling website and they are advertising a combined speedo converter and delimiter for £27.50. What kind of delimiter is that likely to be? Quote
