mbs Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 If you want some good inexpensive Champagne get down to M & S. Oudinot Brut non vintage, s/b 19.99 now with £5 off and then a further 25% off if you buy six, then if you use the 10% off voucher in the M & S wine mag it works out at £9.75 a bottle. Just got a dozen. Be careful however they also have some Oudinot Vintage at £23.99 the labels are very similar. Quote
martinmac Posted May 25, 2008 Posted May 25, 2008 Nice one, sounds like a bargain, well spotted Mr S Quote
mbs Posted May 25, 2008 Author Posted May 25, 2008 Most over-rated drink ever in my opinion I agree but her indoors loves it. Quote

nixy Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 what a lovely man! I love champagne - especially in cocktails with raspberry stuff in. Quote
Stew Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 A raspberry bellini Nixy? My GF likes them! I'm more of a bollinger man myself. A decent champagne is very nice however a lot a cr4p! Quote
lilsheepshagga_turbo Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 +1 with stew.. bollinger is very very nice...its always between bollinger and don perignon for me... -ho Quote
Stew Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 I buy bollinger from Costco. A good variety for 25 squid a bottle. I'm a tight Scotsman so only for special occasions! Quote
nixy Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 it has to be said i'm no wine snob - i tend to buy mine by two methods - percentage alcohol and is it less than a fiver. Quote
Stew Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 Nothing wrong with that Nixy! Except I tend to take one step back from the highest percentage. Example 12% instead of 13% or 14%. Normally the wine tastes better I find! I actually go to tesco and buy the wine on deals. Hardys crest when it's half price is great. 8 squid to 4 squid! Lovely! Buy 6 or 12 bottles and get the additional 10 (??) % off too! Quote
sl114 Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 what a lovely man! I love champagne - especially in cocktails with raspberry stuff in.In that case, CAVA is good enough as there is no point getting expensive champagne if you will be adding cordial (in effect) to it Quote
nixy Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 yeah, i like that too - anything ice cold and fizzy, i'm a cheap date when I'm not on G&T's. Quote
