JayJa Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Hey! I’m considering taking the 350z on a track day. I’ve just had UniRoyal RainSport 5 tyres put on it, will these be ok for a track day or am I better to remove them and put something specific for track on there? I’m not racing driver, and am doing it to have a bit of fun and push the car more than I can on a normal road. I’m running MTEC discs and EBC red stuff pads. I’ll probably be there for a few hours, so just seeing I’m going to need specific tyres or if the ones I’m running would be fine? anything else I should consider? Thanks! Quote
Ekona Posted February 21 Posted February 21 It’s your first time, you’re gonna be terrified and thrilled in equal measure as long as you keep on eye on the pressures (drop them off a couple of psi as they’ll get hotter than usual and will be overinflated, leading to premature wear) and don’t be doing massive skids everywhere on purpose, they’ll be absolutely fine for a first go. They’re not track tyres, not even close, but if they’re what you’re used to then that’s what will make you the most comfortable and that’s what counts on this go. When you get the bug, that’s when you can start looking at something more track-orientated Quote
The Bounty Bar Kid Posted February 21 Posted February 21 My number 1 tip would be learn the track and avoid the grass. You're not driving a lawnmower 😂 People who know me will get that. My first time on track was funny. Quote
Keith D Posted February 21 Posted February 21 Don't over think it, 'run what ya brung' and have fun Quote
350_Jer Posted February 22 Posted February 22 If you haven't changed your brake fluid in a while it would be worth changing it for some decent fluid, doesn't cost a lot and should help keep your brakes working well for a bit longer Start off slow, learn the track layout, and build your speed up gradually, and have fun! davey_83 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Check oil and coolant levels, bring along 500ml if needed for the journey home too. 25 psi in the tyres, which should come up to around 30 psi hot is a good shout also. Leave the traction control on, as the track in March won't have barely any temperature. Brake in a straight line and have fun. Quote
