Pistuphead Posted April 8, 2017 Share Posted April 8, 2017 Hi So recently I posted about my roof not closing properly and couldn't work out why.... well ever since its warmed up the roof has been fine so I put it down to temperature, even though I was using it when it was over 10 degrees. Happy days. Anyway, I'm doing a bit of tidying up on the car and I'm looking at replacing the hood (which is a bit tatty) with a mohair one, so 2 questions: Firstly has anyone got any recommendations. I'm based in West Lancashire but I've been looking at online suppliers, carhoodsdirect seem reasonable price wise but also, my understanding is they have the plastic trim around the rear window as per oem. Secondly, has anyone ever had a go at fitting the hood themselves? If it's straight forward then I'd do it myself but if it was a bit too specialist or I needed a seamstress to get involved I wouldn't bother, I'd get a trimmer to do it. Willsy1980 Posted April 8, 2017 Share Posted April 8, 2017 There is a video guide to doing the swap on youtube. Seems a complete nightmare to do, lots of drilling and riveting needs 2 people ideally. I'd spend the extra £100 or so and get them to do the fitting too, at least you will have comeback on them if there are issues. It's takes about 4 hours in the hands of someone who's done loads. Mine was also done there. They know about Zeds and the fact that they know to also replace the rubber straps bodes well! I haven't used them myself, but visit their website as they seem a good supplier.
