Hi! I bought my roadster on New Year’s Eve last year from a heated indoor showroom where the roof worked no trouble, when I got it home the roof would go down fine and then back up but the final part of the sequence where the back part closes down onto the cover wouldn’t operate. Left for half an hour it would do. This went on until the weather warmed up around April and then it’s worked perfectly all summer. In the end I put it down to overheating a motor when the material was too stiff in the cold weather. So in hindsight, in my case anyway, I think we should probably just do what Nissan told us to do in the first place and only use the roof above 11 degrees or whatever it is

That's enough to confirm my suspicions, I'll be letting a trimmer do it! I'll probably buy online and get someone local to fit.

Hi So recently I posted about my roof not closing properly and couldn't work out why.... well ever since its warmed up the roof has been fine so I put it down to temperature, even though I was using it when it was over 10 degrees. Happy days. Anyway, I'm doing a bit of tidying up on the car and I'm looking at replacing the hood (which is a bit tatty) with a mohair one, so 2 questions: Firstly has anyone got any recommendations. I'm based in West Lancashire but I've been looking at online suppliers, carhoodsdirect seem reasonable price wise but also, my understanding is they have the plastic trim around the rear window as per oem. Secondly, has anyone ever had a go at fitting the hood themselves? If it's straight forward then I'd do it myself but if it was a bit too specialist or I needed a seamstress to get involved I wouldn't bother, I'd get a trimmer to do it. I only use the car if it's sunny actually, maybe I don't need a roof at all 🤔 #350zSpeedster

Hi, yes I have engine running so don't think it's a voltage issue although I have tried it without it running for no reason other than to try it and it's the same. I will lubricate everything however again I'm not sure if it's anything sticking as the motor operates the first, second and third sequence in that bit of the roof fine, there's no attempt for it to move on the final part. Puzzler!!

Hi, yes I'm aware that you're not supposed to use it when it's cold out, presumably as the fabric gets stiff and puts strain on the motors, but I tried it today at dinner time when it was showing 11 degrees and the car had been sat in the sun so the hood was warm to touch so I don't think it's anything related to that (I could be wrong though), it seems more electrical as I can hear relays clicking but no movement on the actual hood.

Hi, I seem to have a bit an intermittent fault occurring when I put my roof back up. Taking it down is no problem, it all seems to fold away as it should, but when I come to put it back up it stops at the final part of the sequence i.e. after the lid has shut the rear window section doesnt go down. Funny thing is that if I leave it for say 10 mins then go back to it it'll work, but then immediately after that if I operate it again (put it back down and up) the same thing happens more often than not. Anyone come across this before? I plan on getting a new hood soon so if something's on it's way out I'll look at sorting it sooner rather than later! Cheers

Quick hello, I'm new to 350z ownership, I've wanted one for years and finally bought a silver roadster recently. Completely standard car and I plan to keep it that way other than fitting a mohair hood before spring to replace the tatty original. Are there any club meets around the north west?
