350z Bonnet damper - high lift ?

I've got a set of bonnet dampers on my car, nothing wrong with them for displaying your engine bay if you're into that - but I'm not, I need a set so I can work on the car, thus a higher lift than I have.

I'll try and get a measurement tonight for a point of reference.

 

Does anyone know which brand I should check out ?

Remove the bonnet for the job then refit

I appreciate the simple answer, and have done it before but not always the easiest thing to do alone, and pretty tedious if I'm farting around every week or so.

Is that cos it bends out of shape? Cos nobody told me and that's what happened to mine

Well that too. Lad on here had his up and the wind caught it off the prop and bent it straight back, creasing both wings for good measure. Being so light it don't take much to move them about.

It's alright I work on it in a heated garage (with a ramp!)

Give grlnet a PM as his bonnet dampers lift the bonnet higher than the norm.

Just out of curiosity the height you currently get out of your dampers...is it lower than when stock without the dampers? I know people who have installed the dampers and the bonnet doesnt open up nearly as much as without them. However mine opens up to the same height as stock. If this is what you are after I will pop my bonnet open tomorrow and try find the manufacturer of mine.

Yep it's definitely lower than by using the prop stick thingy.

I'll definitely measure it up by the end of the week !

Yea my dampers are the same lower than stock height. Have to watch my nut when i work on it. Ouch!
