teejay Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 just a quick one for the gurus ive just ordered some new wheels what is the best product to use on them to protect/keep clean and should I do this before putting the tyres on Quote
Ekona Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 I use FK1000P on all mine, and definitely put it on before you mount the tyres. Quote
Kev T Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 I use gtechniq wheel armour at the beginning of the year and wheels need only light wash to keep shiny for 12 months. Quote
HEADPHONES Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 New rims Can't beat that time when the rims are box fresh. This is a unique opportunity when they're spotless to keep them indoors, wipe down with ipa and apply Gtechniq C5 wheel armour at your leisure in the comfort of your own home. Then buy some C2v3 (which is dead cheap and easy to use) to top it off. I did this about 6 months ago on my daily used Zed and all I clean with now is shampoo. I use the C2v3 on the bodywork as my LSPand occasionally on my rims too. It's like water. Spray. Spread. Buff. Surfaces don't even have to be bone dry which is a bonus when topping up slickness to he rims. Quote
ilogikal1 Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Go for a coating - GTechniq C1/4/5 would be my choice. You could do a coat before mounting the tyres, but I'd recommend that you do at least one more coat afterwards too, to ensure coverage. Just remember to leave enough time for the coating to cure properly before mounting the tyres or fitting them to the car. IMO there's little need to top up a coating for the 8/9 months at least but there's no harm in doing so. Quote
HEADPHONES Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Hi ilogikal1, do you ever find the C5 leaves a slightly "grabby" finish? This was the only reason I put some C2v3 on top. I'm a sucker for running my fingers across the surface feeling it as slippery as the inside of an "American pie" Quote

Once it's been buffed off it's always been slicker than a slick thing. Quote
