MarkW Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Need a rant....... Just booked my car in for a P1 service as it is due in 1000 miles so I thought I would get it done before I sell it as it will be an incentive to any future buyer. I've just been quoted £280 for a P1 service! when the same garage charged me £250 last year for a P2 which at the time i thought expensive. Isnt the P1 more or less just an oil change and a few checks? When I asked the nice lady why it was so expensive, she said that prices do go up over time, plus ive done more miles now! ffs! Phoned the other Bham dealer who have quoted £240, and waiting for another one to call me back. I was expecting it to be around £150-£180ish. Are they taking the mick or is this the price everyone is paying these days? I know there are cheaper dealers out there, but I dont really want to have to drive 100 miles and take a day off work just for a service! Rant over Quote
martinmac Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Mine last year was about £100 less than that, postcode lottery again. Quote
stanski Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I asked about service pricing inWestway Nissan (oldham) they said something like £220 then £260 then £220 again - those kind of numbers ? The first service is a Long Stand service - where a kid stands there and looks at it for ages ... then they put some oil in - being very careful to spill it over your engine bay and front wing. Which costs £15 then they do the important job of topping up your windscreen wash even though you filled it the day before £130 - the rest is labour Quote

M13KYF Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 was there this week for a MOT. You'll find the Subura part on the corner and the Nissan part just down the road. Nice butty shop between for a B&E Quote
stanski Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Nice butty shop between for a B&E Good to know - you see you dont get this kind of knowledge from Nissan UK do you ? Thats why this forum is top notch. Hmmm - should I go there for a quote on a new ragtop Zed (or lease doodar plan) then see what Westway come up with? (Ha Westway have sold that ragtop I meant to be test driving tomorrow - figures - just as well I guess Zeds are not so hot in the snow/sleet? ) Quote
MarkW Posted February 1, 2008 Author Posted February 1, 2008 Lockwood & Greenwood in Manchester are very good. My last P1 in Nov was £121. I supplied my own oil That's a massive difference to £280, even with £50 worth of oil. I dont know how they can get away with it. In the words of Catherine Tate.... "The dirty evil money robbing ba****ds!" Quote
M13KYF Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 they've got a 05 azure ragtop in now if you fancy a test drive Quote
Lincolnbaggie Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 If you fancy a drive to Lincolnshire I've just been quoted £105 for a P1 supplying my own oil at Louth (P&B Nissan). P3 there was only £220 which I got down to £111 after haggling (pointed out the plugs didn't need doing, brake fluid had already been done etc). Seems the cheapest dealer around that I can find, and they are v good as well Quote

Trev-the-Rev Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 £210 for a P1 and £300 for a P2 in Wessex Nissan Cardiff. Don't know what they charge for a P3 as I haven't had to have one yet Quote
Ebized Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I thought my P1 service on 20/11/07 was expensive at £158.51 - done at Wilsons in Surrey (I supplied the oil, or least the oilman did). Compared to what is being posted it seems about average Quote
Ian Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 £210 for a P1 and £300 for a P2 in Wessex Nissan Cardiff. Don't know what they charge for a P3 as I haven't had to have one yet Mine is due a P3 in a few months & I refuse to use wessex again. I have found a Nissan Specialist in Swansea. stanski Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 I have found a Nissan Specialist in Swansea. A P1 there is just £60 Wowsers that cheap ! Specialist you say will the warrany be valid under Nissan?? If its an out of warranty job after a few years I would probably just do it myself as the car will be worth a pack of toffees by then (probably have 200,000 miles on it in 3 years with my type of driving!!) Stan Quote
lomoto Posted February 1, 2008 Posted February 1, 2008 Why not just use an independent garage, so long as they use a genuine filter your warranty wont be affected.. after all ,all this service is just an oil change and inspection..paying £100+ labour for that is crazy Quote
