ioneabee Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 any thoughts on the legality of this my son was offered a summer/seasonal job at Easter ready for the summer - all accepted and he and they will confirm a start date closer to the time. they've rung him this morning stating as the weather is so bad, they don't want/need him now - which means he's now jobless for the summer and its pretty hopeless trying to find something this late. not that we're likely to do anything, but what is the legal position here ? Richf Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 He wouldnt have any employment rights even if he'd started so its one of those things i'm afraid Quote

ioneabee Posted July 3, 2016 Author Posted July 3, 2016 Just give him a few handouts throughout the summer....he'll be happy with that. well obviously ............. however, he needs to get out of the house and be "occupied" do you need a soap tester ?.............he could do with a bath Quote
350zedd Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Dan is in the same position in Leicester when I sort his P45 out, so yes, we have a vacancy for a "Logistics Manager" Quote
veilside z Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 That's so disappointing. Really a shock to the system as well, gearing yourself up for something that's then taken away from you. I hope he is ok and finds something to occupy his time buddy. 1 Quote

Ekona Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Hmm was that a verbal contract? Pitty it wasn't in writing. Doesn't matter if it was, it would still be able to be rescinded in the circumstances as described. Quote
