Wider rear wheels lost all power

Hi all,

This may have been covered before but recently changed my rear wheels

Std wheels to 18in 10j et12 with 265/35/18

After putting these on yesterday the slip light keeps flashing and there is no power

But if I turn the traction control off it drives perfect

Has anyone come across this issue before

Kind regards

Danny

That's your problem then I suspect - I make that a diameter difference of about 5% compared to the standard ~2.5%. That new difference is triggering the traction control because your car assumes the speed difference front-to-rear is you getting it all sorts of wrong and thus cutting the power.

Fit the appropriate size wheels/tyres at both ends of the car and it should be fixed.

Ahh got you :) thank you for your help.

What size would you suggest on the fronts :/ sorry when it comes to wheels n tyers I'm shocking haha

This is more of a guess on my part than fact (won't be far off though if not spot on) but if you're running a 10J ET12 with 265/35/18 on the rear then the front should be something like a 9.5J ET12 with 245/35/18's on.

The ET & whether the alloy will fit over the brake caliper does depend on alloy wheel design though so best to check before buying (although it maybe fine).

There is a car tyre calculator somewhere that maybe a member will post for you.

Danny if you stick around and do a few more quality posts you'll soon hit the 15 posts required to post a for sale advert in the trading area.

Please follow the rules listed in bold red text in the relevant area & you'll not have any problems. ;)

Otherwise try advertising your tyres properly on eBay or somewhere & I'm sure they'll sell. Good luck.
