Was changing front discs today. Went to refit and tighten the caliper bolts on the passenger side but could not get them fully tightened and they are about 3mm from being fully screwed on. They will not tighten any further. I took them out again and it looks like the screw thread in the caliper is sheared about half way in. I'm a complete idiot to say the least.

Any ideas what I can do? Hoping I don't need a new caliper.

Assuming that you did not leave the thick washer off then I would run a tap through it.

Failing that I have single front Brembo calipers in stock if required.

OllyB & Bradders - LMFAO!

@Bradders - I'm in Dublin, Ire. I think I'll be getting the caliper off and check some of the engineering places around tI see if they can help. I think the thread was already snagged to begin with - it was a lot stiffer than the driver side even when unscrewing.

Tip for everyone, never use your tool until your fingers have gone as far as they can ......

I nearly buggered up the downward bolts on the front underside brace, I took it off for a coat of por15, and used the torque gun to pop the nut back on... Started cross threading the nut, luckily not the bolt.

(so found another 19mm bolt and put the nut on backwards to rethread it)

Fingers before tool.

@bradders, I've done the same thing (moron) with my caliper. Where was the brembo specialist you used?

Also just in case, how much are your single calipers zmanalex?

@gt driver did you find a local engineering place to do it?

Cheers!
