Tag users in posts?

Hi guys, is it possible to tag other user's in posts so they get a notification when they've been tagged?

There are plugins for IP board to support if know one wants to add the code

Tagging would be highly beneficial to the forum I think, it's something that is used frequently on other forums I use. It's very helpful when someone has an issue and instead of others saying to PM a certain member for help, they can tag him in the post and the possible solution will then be in the open forum for others who search the issue in the future to read

For it to be feasible then the users would have to be able to opt in/out of being tagable, and then when tagging someone it would have to warn the poster that the user has tagging disabled so that they don't assume they've made contact when they haven't.

We can turn on/off other alerts, so I don't see why it wouldn't be easily integrated
