Mikevv Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 Hi guys, I'm a little concerned at how "cold" my car is running My old car would run around the middle of the gauge ( yes, I know, very accurate....) But my Z is reaching say 1/3rd of the gauge, and never gets hotter? Part of me thinks that's a good thing, but it takes almost no time to warm up either. I was wondering how hot your cars run guys? I'm sorry, this is more than likely a stupid post, and in the wrong place, but I don't know who else to ask. I'll post pictures tomorrow morning when I get home from work on my usual commute Quote
GT4 Zed Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 That's water temp. Oil temp is more important and you will have to add an aftermarket gauge and sensor to monitor this since the zed only has oil pressure gauge. Don't know if you can access this via the obd which may even be less hassle if you got an obd wifi sender and the app. (Many to choose from) Anyway I'm sure you are worried for nothing. My water temps are similar even on track. 1 Quote
Mikevv Posted July 29, 2015 Author Posted July 29, 2015 Facepalm. Dad taught me the wrong thing as a kid then, or I assumed lol. He always used to say his car was warm by looking at the gauge, I guess it's a rough indicator, but not accurate. I doubt I'll bother looking for one, won't beat on the car until it's been driven for a good 20 mins anyways so it's definitely warm Quote
Juggalo Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Mine warms up really quick too, seems fine though. If you're worried, you can get a thermostat for about 30 quid. Quote
Zeezeebaba Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 My rule of thumb is after four miles of driving the oil should be up to temp. Water temp doesn't take long on the Z. Quote
Rock_Steady Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Maybe it has an aftermarket thermo that runs a bit cooler??? Quote
Tricky-Ricky Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Maybe it has an aftermarket thermo that runs a bit cooler??? Or no thermostat at all! Quote
