Thanks mate!! Warranted it's not all dealers, probably just mine! Needless to say I stay away now unless I know exactly what I'm after... The car went in for the brake fluid changing during a service ages ago and they didn't Do it properly so I had sponges for brakes......then on a different service I asked what oil they'd put in si I could get a top up bottle, turned out they didn't know what grade it was! So I asked how can you be sure it's the right one then? Response "it's just what we put in everything" !!! Right so a 350z engine is treated like a micra there.....
-
Just a quick one as it doesn't say in the 350z service manual do the diff and gearbox drain and fill plugs have gaskets on them? If so how many are needed? Don't wanna call into Nissan asking for gaskets that don't exist lol! They struggle even when you give them the right information! Cheers

Definitely result!!! The Xmas plan is definitely lots of turkey chocolate and relaxing!

Instrument Cluster Replaced = Mileage now 0. Fix?
SteveW replied to lilwashu's topic in 350Z Technical
This seems to be standard of most car dealerships nowadays! -
Well outcome is..........quadriceps tendon is inflamed and this is pushing part of the joint to catch as it has been offset. So just gotta take it easy for longer and see how it is , was also given some anti-inflamatories for it.....well at least Xmas break is coming up to chill out

^^^^^^^^^^^ OUCH Well it's my results day tomorrow so we'll see what the shebang is....

Thats exactly what mine does, fine until you get to a quarter of a tank left then the fuel computer and the gauge just do whatever they want, currently I've done 80 miles, fuel computer predicts 260 left and the gauge says 3/4 full so it works right until you get low down. I did notice when I had the Car UpReved the fuel computer and gauge starting working correctly again for about 3 months then went mad again. Why that would make a difference I have no idea

Thanks mate, in that case I'll stay away from the Buddy Club, I want something quieter than my K1. Don't want to be that annoying neighbour starting up his car at 6am and waking up the village! Thanks Coldel that would be awesome if you could CrumbMc i'm liking the vids thank you , the Gemini does indeed sound good and it does sound the kind of noise I'm after as well as being able to live with it day to day. The K1 has provided enough drama for me over the last few years lol ready to get into the smoking jacket and slippers of something quieter I'm still not ruling out modding the K1 into a true dual because I really do love the look of those cans without the bungs...
-
Mine is exactly the same and the fuel computer goes mad as well. I've had mine say 15 miles left when I've only done 180 miles off a tank driving steady where I would normally get 300. Then within a mile it can change back to 100 miles left, its stupid, really does my head in I've also had the sutuation where it swears i'm on empty, go to the garage and it will only take 40 litres. I just ignore it now and fill up after 280 miles. If someone knew how to fix it I would be stoked to say the least!

Well I think the time has come to get a new exhaust which is a wee bit quieter than the k1. I've had the K1 a couple of years now and love the sound with the bungs in but hate it with them out (I must be getting old). Also love the way it looks with those bungs out. It does do my head in on the motorway though droning away. However, next year I'm planning on getting some HFC's and it seems pointless if I'm keeping the K1 and running with the bungs in... Therefore its time to get something new I think. Bunged the K1 on a static test is 94Db. I've short listed the following options: Buddy Club Invidia Gemini Miltek Modified k1 to true dual with more inline silencers to get it quieter Does anyone know the 3/4RPM static test volume for the 3 exhausts I've listed above or have any general comments about these coupled with HFCs? Cheers Steve

Also one of my favourite forum cars, sad to see her go. Good luck mate!!!

Typically the OEMs go for About £100-£200 which probably wouldn't cover the cost of your recent refurb unfortunately. Sorry dude.

I've had a K1 for a few years now and love the sound it makes with the bungs in but it's far too loud with them out. I wish I could make it sound like it does with the bungs in with them out. I also love the aggressive look of the cans. However I'm considering getting a new exhaust because I want to get some HFCs and I don't see the point in decating the car then running with the bungs in, kinda defeats the object of the HFCs..... I would follow the HFCs up with a remap at RS tuning as already have the UpRev licence. Alternatively I might go somewhere like Exhausts UK and have the K1 converted to a true dual system (just to keep the look of the cans) but fit some inline silencers so it will overall be quieter than the bunged K1 is now and flow better...... Or alternatively get an Invidia Gemini, or Miltek and some HFCs ....arghhhhh decisions! For info at 3/4 max RPM (static test) the bunged k1 is 93-94Db the unbunged k1 is 103-104Db Cheers

loving this thread however I wasn't looking for tips on how to inseminate a cow or large animal. How I missed that sealey one on eBay I've no idea I must have looked through hundreds of syringes!!!! Thanks folks, by the way checking out the vets may well be a good shout Obviously for inseminating the diff and not the local wildlife!!!
-
Hi folks, Quickie, anyone know where I can get a massive syringe for changing the diff fluid? Obviously don't wanna spend loads. Biggest I can find on eBay in cheap plastic and in the chemist is 100ml. Even 250ml would be better, ideally 500 would be best I reckon. I have seen some glass 'rectal thermometers' but at £50 no chance, lol. Cheers Steve

Weather strip from BandQ fixed my rattles was about £5 for 5 metres. Bargain!

Well X Ray is complete but the radiographer wasn't allowed to tell me anything when I asked if she could see anything on the X Ray so I have to make an appointment back at my doctors in a week to find out the results.
-
Aghh whoops I'm rather forgetful, I forgot to post back up in here! Well I'm off for an X Ray tomorrow on it so we'll see if that yields any findings . . . Will keep you posted....promise I will remember this time...

Thanks for the information folks especially Ricey, you really seem to know what you are talking about. Who would have thought a car forum that has an answer for everything I have booked a doctors appointment for Friday this week. I did tear my PCL in the same knee whilst snowdoarding in Canada back in 2007. It was only a partial tear but still took 12 months for the pain to go. Taught me a lesson, haven't been off any 70 foot jumps since I kind of blame myself for this as I was doing fairly heavy squats in the gym for the 4 weeks before this happened and after the 4th week my knee had started to feel odd so I stopped doing them, then a fgew days later I knelt down and 'pop'. Funny thing is I also need an operation on my elbow which has bone spurrs growing on the Ulna none and pushing the joint out, which hurths like hell when doing any tricep work. I was hoping to put off the Op until after the Basketball season but maybe I can get them both done in a few weeks of one another or at the same time to save some time \notice how pointey the spurred elbow is Normal Elbow Spurred Elbow

Hi Folks, A random for Q for a car forum but I've trawled the net and can't find anything so before booking an appointment at the docs I thought I'd ask on here. Basically last week at work I knelt down to take a photo mid kneel my right knee made a popping sound and suddenly I got a sharp pain in my knee. This subsided after about ten seconds but for the rest of the day my knee was aching. Well the ache persisted for a couple of days and then went away. However, now when I bend my leg unloaded or loaded,or try to kneel down etc my knee pops and sometimes the sharp pain returns. Additionally I can feel something moving around inside the joint when I bend my leg this thing 'pops' at about 90 degrees. Also when walking the inside of my leg at the knee joint aches. If I'm sat for a while with my legs bent at 90 degrees ish my knee also aches. Any ideas? I'm normally really active, football, basketball, gym, running, cycling and now I'm just buggared, I can't do anything... Thanks Steve

Neil do you mind if I answer that with a Fair point......point taken

Thanks but unfortunately the akermann angle on the zed isn't adjustable and running an incorrect offset or a set of spacers does affect the handling. By moving the wheels further outboard of the kingpin axis you introduce tyre scrub on both sides of the car because when you steer the wheel is no longer pivoting about its true centre. Additionally it can affect grip under braking as well as the self centreing characteristics. Taken from a website discussing vehicle handling-"The Kingpin Angle, along with the Castor, dictates the self-centring action of the steering and the affect the steering will have under braking. Fitting larger wheels can alter the Scrub Radius if the correct offset is not chosen which in turn can affect the handling." when I designed the 5 link suspension system on our Formula Student car at uni a few years back this was one of the key design criteria, to ensure the was 0 scrub radius and the kingpin axis was directly through the wheel centre to generate the best handling characteristics. Hi Ian, I probably am over thinking things, I am renowned for this amongst my mates lol. I've not decided on any particular wheels yet was just doing some out load thinking. Cheers Steve
