  1. If you don't want to do the penny trick then there's a company near me that will re-gas your boot dampers £30 for the pair which will give them enough strength to lift the boot with spoiler.

    Fakeindian had it done.

Its not to do with the Gas struts tho, its the springs in the little black bump stops that need strengthening.

  2. People with heavy spoilers often have to lift the boot hatch and press the release button at the same time to get the boot off of the catch as the springs aren't strong enough. (Not the end of the world but it means you need to use 2 hands at once which is a bit of a pain when trying to put something in the boot)

The penny trick is where you twist the black plastic spring casings to release them from the boot lid and insert a penny into the spring casing to stiffen the spring.

This does work in a few cases but the penny can actually cause the boot spring to push through the boot after a while - it has pushed through on mine slightly and cracked the paint.

    Hope that made sense :)

  3. Are you ever going to get it back? its been ages in "repairs" :surrender:

I went to pick it up last Saturday but the post office wouldn't accept the insurance confirmation printout as valid insurance so I had to wait for it to show as insured online or wait for the certificates to come through.

Going again this Saturday armed with road tax :yahoo:

  4. Do you need XBOX gold membership to download skins and stuff? Seen some nice pictures of rally replicas and stuff that im not skilled enough to create

Where I use my xbox i have no internet access, but if i can download stuff without subscribing I could bring my xbox here and see if I could download some stuff

Oh and thanks to Forza3 having all the nismo kit on it and the rays/volks I also have made a replica of my own car. Unfortunately im slow driving it as i dont like to see it damaged  Any other car I own is fair game to ram other off track though :)

Yup, just a membership and money on your career

  5. I'd prefer the video feed be wireless TBH

and i want a BJ from angelina jolie ;)

    :

    Now were talking

I would have thought it wold be a lot easier to just buy a cheapo usb webcam from PC world than mess around with the battery and video out to a PC though :headhurt:

  6. @ Husky or anyone else with leccy knowledge

Wouldn't it be easier to snip the battery wires and make an external battery pack for it?

and an external feed to the memory for it so you could have it mounted in the front or rear and then just have it hooked to the mains battery and take the memory out when you wanted to get it to the computer...or even put the recording buttons inside so you could stop / start it from within the cabin of the car... husky husky husky!

Next thing you'll want Husky to make a cable so you can have a video out attached to a headunit that allows rear view camera feed...

I'd prefer the video feed be wireless TBH

  7. On the other hand, why risk it?

So many track days are at risk now because of the NIMBYs complaining about noise, and it would be beneficial to all to not give them any more ammunition. Bearing in mind you'll make no extra power at all regardless of what exhaust you're running, is it really worth it? I can understand the want to get the K1 on, but there's really no need to rush it.

Without bungs it is bang on the 105dB limit so you'll fail, with bungs you should be fine but do check on the drive-by as with or without bungs you're very likely to fail that.

I've called the trackday organisers and I've been told that there are no drive by noise tests at Mallory Park apparently there is just the static test if you are considered too loud when driving round. Might take the stock exhaust in the boot just in case

Don't take the stock exhaust in the boot, just take the bungs and a rubber mallet, then you can fit the bungs in 5 mins to quieten it down.

I found the best tool by far was a rolling pin :#1:
