  1. Just got back from Abbey...spoke to a guy called Tony that really seemed to know his stuff :)

As soon as he heard the noise he knew it was down to a couple of worn bits (bearings?) in the crankshaft. He seemed confident he could fix it without buying any expensive replacement parts, however it will take around 40 hours labour at £60+vat an hour...OUCH! It seems it's not easy to access the crankshaft on the 350z, hence why so much labour is needed.

I don't appear to have an alternative option so I'll be booking it in with them to get it done ASAP. The only good news was that the rattle noise is quite quiet at the moment and isn't constant...Tony thinks I've caught it early so it'll be ok to drive for the time being, providing I treat it gently and keep it in the lower rev range!

    Mark

Two and a half grand.. ouch!!

Good luck getting it sorted though mate, at least you know it'll be done properly at Abbey :)

  2. Castle Coombe is great in the Zed, I'd say DONT run traction control unless you really can't drive (I'm def no pro) as you'll have the power cut every 2 secs. The TC on the Zed is terrible!! Its a really tight rack though so watch out for people in their track cars that arent as expensive.

Got loads of oversteer on here last year, twas awesome - nurrish was passenger braking every corner

  3. Ian,

Im not sure on the gTD, have you made sure you're covered with the banjo axel and sufficently greased the spoon flange? I'd also be wary of running the 40 weight elastic fluid and its compatability with the flag pins.

If you say stuff with enough conviction, anyone can sound like they know what they're talking about!

So, Dunn, looks like we're gonna be partners, bro. Could you tell me right quick what would be a better motor for my Skyline, a Gallo 12 or a Gallo 24?

  4. Just need to refit my bumper properly, do the mesh, swap back to oem bonnet & fit new headunit & rebuild interior by tomorrow night :headhurt:

 congratulations Ian you have done it mate!

I just just gone through the build to see that you have not missed anything apart from the odd bolts and i still have querries on the fuelling side of things ;)

There is the DW inj to be fitted by Abbey and you have got the CJM stage 0 system in which effectively converts the OEM to a RFS  However i did not hear mention of a fuel pump & FMU :surrender:

The OEM is limited to 165lph i think and if you are aiming for 370 WHP that might just be too close to or above this performance range and surely a walbro 255lph pump is cheap insurance :p Or presumably this included in the GTM stage 2 kit ?(too lazy to check their very slow website  )

Try reading? Theres a spec list on the first post, its also been mentioned a few times about the fuel system. Did you seriousley think that I would get that far & leave the fuel pump standard? honestly? re-read the thread & I want 1000 words on how great I am :p

And where exactly have I missed the odd bolt?

I can see loads! - in fact you have forgotted to re-fit half of your exhaust :bangin::p

  5. Funniest thread in ages

I hope you were kitted up properly bennet

I thought you said not to go for a lightweight flywheel? Pretty sure you said I shouldnt

I'm having a Exedy clutch and helix flywheel fitted by CS this weekend so I'll let you know what its like :)
