  1. Always, theres not many about so its not every 5 minutes and its a feel good thing... I passed (going the other way I add) a new GTR in black, and we both acnowleged each other...
  2. The wire in the screen by the black border is the in screen Antenna, the little round button by the fog light switch is to dip the mirrors when reversing (its a picture of a wing mirror on the tiny button)...
  3. I have had a time searching for the fitting instructiond for the SLD but cant find any, going to do it today (or was)... I have found the guide to get me into the ECU but looking for the HKS fitting guide just to make sure... Was it ever posted on the forum? After all, I dont want to bugger the car... Cheers...
  4. Sorry, call me lazy, or slow on the take up... There is a run on, no? Where from and to... Anywhere near Londonshire is out for me...
  5. No can find... So I'm just as stuck... How does the armrest cubby come out so I can have a better look for the wires?
  6. I cant tell but the wire does travel up the way, theres no space to get a hand in... Tried going via the smugglers tray but I cant feel the wire, the plastic closes too much to the metal near the centre part... I cant see any other wires either, where would the phone block (the one with connectors either end) plug into? I feel some trim is going to come off, just trying to get as much info as possible before that as I dont want to be doing the hokey kokey with it and end up with broken or rattly trim...
  7. Ok, read other post, went down to car, looked under smugglers tray, theres a bit of sound deadning with a white bit of velcro on it... Image000 Under the sound deadning is this... Image001 In the armrest cubby is this... Image002
  8. I read the post linked to and costed the kit at £ 158.31 + VAT, ok... But the linked page did not mention JDM car compatability. Does this kit plug into a JDM and what then, do I then need to buy the bluetooth adaptor to sit in this? Just want to do this right first time... Oh and does this mean then that your contacts list is stored in the car and just dials through the phone or is it just like a bluetooth headset where you press the button and say the name of the contact for the phone to figure out and dial someone else... Sorry but I know not...
  9. I sent the one in the Jiffy bag, disk in a rar file, sorry it no work, will try again...
  10. Put it into reverse and look at your mirrors... That it ?
  11. I use Avons both for road (ZZ3) and track (CR's)... The new generation of Avons are amongst the best compounds out there, they use track tech for the road, the downside is you loose out on wear, no big deal and yes, wet weather grip is not the best granted but... I am actualy going in for a new set today and noticed this post, oh and I'm on Pilot Sport just now, they wear well, but then they are made from mahogany... Serious, a good tyre, dont be put off with hearsay, try them out for yourself, youll find out...
  12. I'm messing arround with what files do what, it is still in Japanese and mapping is not there yet but it has booted and the GPS part is there as well as the menus... Hard to think that theres not a tech head not figured this one out yet, it must be do-able, I'm at work just now so I'm working on it just now, will let you know, good luck with your Z, I'm sure you will enjoy it...
  13. Ok, trying to build an empire at the moment (and business is bad) so not spent any time or money on this... Well, just a little bit of time... I have got the sat nav to boot up, she talks to me in Japanese (I melted with that voice) and the GPS is working (theres a setup screen which shows satelite cover and car direction), need to sort out the mapping side of things next... So, just need to work out the DVD file folder system and change a few files (ha, "just" e says) and sat nav will be working from a to b... I have the sat nav manual from Courtesy Nismo, it shows what each screen soes (albeit the US version) there will be differences but those will be down to selections available due to region... Will post back when investigated further... Anyone with info on going down this route ?

    TV TUNER

I must have read a post wrong, sorry, my JDM has the TV in it, obviously it no work, where is the TV tuner in the car? Can I unplug the Jap tuner and plug in a UK Freeview?

    TV TUNER

Ok, another one... So I replace the Sat Nav unit with another Nissan one, I'm left with two plugs, one of these is for the TV, no? If so, can a digital tuner just be hooked up to these wires? If no info on that, can anyone let me know what pin does what and I'll try it...

    BLUETOOTH

Cheers mate... Love this site... Hate JDM Tech...

    BLUETOOTH

Ok, probably another no but... If I hook up the BT Bluetooth adaptor to the car... Then prepare my phone... Then prepare my car by pressing the talk button and say "Setup", "Pair Phone" and "yes"... How do you say the first two in japanese? Well that and a few other words to set up the address book... Its so hard to take, here is a car filled to the gunnals with technology, buttons everywhere and all they do is beep, I mean what is Auto DJ anyway ?
  18. Most excelent tool... [/url] I have just had the pasenger window fixed as it seems to have lost its memory and was dropping an inch or two on full power up, all ok now... RE the sat nav, yea, what a waste... I have ordered a power supply and a touch screen, just need to get the PC and downsize it, Robert from Caledonia Auto Electrix (thats a plug) will sort out the installation... The plug for the GPS reciever I will have to look for as well as the connector (if there is one) for the little dash controls, a blank plate would probably be best though...
  19. Pix to follow, both need nice clean ones and then work out how to post them, will do tommorrow... Tyre wise, I have a thing with Avon and they have been good with me, the ZZ3 is a good tyre for street use and works well on the track if a little soft of compound but tyre presures play a big part in getting the best out of any setup, im confident they will work with the Z, the wear rate I think will be the only problem, I will post me findings... Here endeth the Avon ad...
  20. Yup, dips the mirrors when reversing... My mirrors folded when I locked it when I picked it up, now they dont, I must have pushed a button (yea, like all of em, oh what does this do?)...
  21. Wow... What a huge response... Cheers guys... I think thats one of the whole reasons for the Z, I dont have to do anything to it, I intend to just enjoy it... Yes I will make sure braided lines, good Mintex pads and fluid as well as a set of Avon ZZ's but... Well we will see, time to get to know her first... I will have her on track, after all thats the only sensible place to drive these cars properly, just dont tell the wife...
  22. Well, its Sunday morning and I just thought I would do my hello thing seing as I have been using the forum for information on the Z, its only polite... Im sure I mentioned this on my first post regarding the Sat Nav but I came to the Z by way of an accident, you see, I had a track prepared MG TF, the work being carried out by Dreadnought Garage, Callander, Scotland (great people who know their stuff who also run a team in the BTCC). Our car was a daily driver (ouch) and a regular at track days including Nurburgring, a real fun car to throw about. We loved our little TF and would never got rid of it had it not been for some idiot who pulled out of a junction to the cry "I never saw you", smack, you never saw that either... So why a Z and not another TF if its so dear to me? Simple really, the TF was a Touge monster, A and B roads, anything twisty (standard Elise, S2000 etc, bye bye) it was well sorted but on track while it could embarass a few in the braking zones and cornered well, it was seriously underpowered. I had a hankering for the big Z for a whyle but I would never get rid of the TF (a supercharger was to be fitted this summer to take care of the power issue), that side of the decision was simply taken out of my hands... Having been driving the Z for a bit now, the toys and creature comforts, thats what I have been missing... Anyway, a bit long winded hello but there we go... PS... Its a bit of a beast in the wet, no?
  23. Cheers for the reality check... I will do my homework on it and post a result...
  24. Hi there, I have just bought a 350Z JDM, I wanted a car with built in SAT-NAV, only to find out its no good over here? There must be a tech solution to this... And it will all be down to the DVD region thing, no? I mean, the SAT-NAV itself, all SAT-NAV works the same, they pick up the satelites, be it a Garmin or whatever, it will work in any country, im sure the JDM SAT-NAV dosnt realise its outside Japan and refuses to work... The maps you use come on a disc, the disc will be region coded, is it more likely that the DVD player's firmware is scripted in Japanese and looks for a Japanese region code? I know it dosnt help me just now but... If my nice new disc bought from Nissan at a couple of hundred quid could be region coded as Japanese then at least it would work, I would just need to figure out the script... As for playing DVD's there must be a source for buying Japanese DVD's for the english speaking population, there are after all lots of westerners that work / do business over there... I know, a lot of trouble for a small feature of the car... TV? Why wont this work? Isnt TV just sent over the airwaves and picked up by tuning in to the correct bandwidth? I'm lost... Anyway, Hi all, I stand ready to be shot at but regardless look forward to many a good time with my Z... My last car was an MG TF 135 which was modified for track use by Dreadnought (BTCC) and had seen tracktime at both Knockhill and Nurburgring, unfortunatly some prat pulled out of a junction on an A road and almost killed my wife but did kill the car (yes I almost killed him), I loved the TF but the accident gave me the perfect excuse to move on, something I wasnt going to do as long as I had the TF, it was a seriously fun car... Anyway, hope someone with the technical know how can see where I'm coming from and shed some light... Cheers...
