  1. I would imagine around the £3k to £4K mark. Just get a proper gearbox and be done with it A Porsche PDK box is about £15k...
  2. No, you NEED to get those rears changed PRONTO.
  3. No, different sizes. You need 2x new rears ASAP.
  4. Erm, you have different tyres across teh same axle?! If so, CHANGE THEM NOW. Literally drive straight to a garage and get a matching set put on. Do not pass go, do not collect £200 etc. If mixed front to back, the same advice applies but it's not quite so life and death. I mean, you're still risking £8K worth of car in the worst possible conditions for the sake of a couple of hundred quid, but that's your choice. I would always recommend a matching set of tyres all round, and if they're a premium tyre like the MPSS then all the better.
  5. Yup, I'd have taken a step back and trod on the little sh*t's feet.
  6. I'm glad to be sat indoors! I've only just noticed the rear view mirror

    Tinting Lights?

Front fogs are absolutely useless in anything other than proper pea soup can't see more than 2ft ahead of the car type fog. Then you'd be travelling at about 10mph and be on side lights to stop the light reflecting back at you. I hate front fogs. I also hate Ford for making their vehicles FORCE you to put the front fogs on just to have the rears on: The rears can be used a few times in the winter, but I've only ever needed front fogs once in 16 years of driving. I agree, it should be side/dipped/main. I would also accept parking for side, and full for main.
  8. Or don't worry about it. Anything key will be genuine OEM, anything less important probably doesn't matter. Again though, means no mods or cheeky remaps.

    Tinting Lights?

Well, no. C&U is down to the car when manufactured. As soon as you do anything to make the lights more rubbish, you break those regs. Also, how do you describe it to the insurer? Unless you can measure the exact output and prove it's still legal, then saying your lights are now more rubbish than OEM isn't going to be something I'd like to be insuring the risk on.

    Tinting Lights?

    Yes, construction & use regs.

    Tinting Lights?

AFAIK you cannot have lights that are too bright: As long as they're pointing in the right direction as set by the MOT, then they can be as bright as you like.
  12. Hi Tracey, welcome along Sounds like a very positive experience with the garage, these things do happen with buying used cars and it's always about how they handle the problems, rather than the problem itself.
  13. No, you're breaking the law. You can send the money as a gift, you can call it Fred, you can fly it by carrier pigeon: You're still paying money for an item created by a business. That's called a purchase. I don't care if you do or if you don't, but don't kid yourself that a judge would be all like, "Oh, a PayPal gift you say? You silly HMRC, of course that's ok!" How do you think drug dealers clean their money? By laundering, just like your idea...
  14. But that's not what you're doing, that's what you're telling people. Dude, I'm not going to grass you up, I'm just curious!
  15. Anyone would think that these Japanese-made films on a Japanese track with Japanese drivers are fixed to let the Japanese car win... It's fun to watch, but nothing more. Shame they don't give more info on the tyres used, that would be an interesting stat to know. On no planet is an SLS quicker than a 997TS either! Anyone got any info on the drivers? As in classes competed in, race wins etc.
  16. So you'll under insure and then lie to customs to avoid tax as well? Not judging, just clarifying.
  17. I'm genuinely grateful I've never witnessed anyone doing this, to my car or anyone else's. I think I'd be quite vocal about the matter.
  18. And what about the painting? And the purchase price of the kit needed to fab these up? And the time spent designing them in the first place? And the risk of losing all the cash if nobody wanted them? And the training and knowledge required to even get started... Good luck to the guy. If he can turn a profit making these, then he deserves everything he gets.
  19. £5K for an engine? Really? Ouch. Sod that then, better off getting a new car

    Tinting Lights?

Imagine the scene: You've reduced the light output of your lights. Poor weather means you give it more beans than you should, and it's at night. You end up writing your car off, and in the process you cripple Harry Kane who happened to be driving a car on the same street and you had a coming together. Insurance man comes to check on the car as Mr Kane is putting in a multi-million pound claim for his useless legs, when they discover that you've reduced the usability of your lights. Suddenly you have no insurance cover, and every one is coming after you for everything. Seriously, don't bother. The MOT issue isn't worth worrying about, insurance most definitely is. If you really must, for shows and that, i'd be grabbing some stick on stuff that you can throw on during the day and then removing for the drive home.
