  4. cool managed to do it - use Adobe to convert it to PDF - as its a picture it asks you - do you want to convert to text - scans the page and Martin's your Auntie - its there - clever stuff! Thanks very much for your assistance on this one . AsI keep saying all life and knowledge is here on the forum !
  5. Sorry I.T question? Do you work on SAP in or near Manchester area? no its nothing to do with trees or the heat retention of a building just complicators or computers as geeks call them!
  6. sell the Zed and get a mini then £500 cash - bargain - just buy new tyres every 3 months - bit like a Zed really!

  8. You lot need to get out more! Thing is how many Fiesta Populars do you know can tow a speed boat anyway? I saw a capri the other week for the first time in ages - damn thing looks like a slab of lard compared to cars today - mind you still had a certain period charm I have to say! think is was a 1.6i - oooooh max power!! In North Wales you can see Mark 1 cavaliers and Chevettes still - which is unnerving...
  9. thanks mate - will have a dabble tonight - your right - it picks up the text from the scan and is supposed to send to an application - it does'nt seem to have an option for Word but I remember PDF being there - I do have a PDF editor so will try that tonght - thanks again for your time and help on this - its about 20 pages to copy and change after!
  10. Thanks Matey - yeah thats off Epsons web site - I did all of that last night but when it scans it it does'nt take the text just as text it still takes the whole thing as a scanned image of the text ?? Probably something daft I am missing here - not for the first time either? uploaded it to photshop to try to copy the text out and into Word but it did'nt want to play?
  11. Borrowed mates scanner - Epson Perfection 1660 - the bundled (or is that bungled) software that came with it - has an OCR option - which I have done - yes it scans the doc and picks out the text really well just puts it in TIF format? Have tried assorted options but no joy?
  12. Thanks - is'nt Pictbridge for direct printing from a device such as a scanner or camera?? will look at this again in the morning when more awake

    RX 8 buying

It never flooded on me once - I just did as I mentioned earlier - wait a few mins - thats it They are 10 a penny on the forecourts as are Zeds? Its just down to roadtax being £400+ etc, they hardly use oil (I seem to keep hammering this point in all my RX8 threads) but there is still this stupid myth that they do drink oil and that the Rotary engine is pants and will last 5 mins - its all scaremongering! That engine is a peach and should really go in the MX5 Sorry step off my Rant stool there Bottom line its a very well made car - decent paint and alloys really practical but yes it can be quite thirsty because you do need to rev it a lot to get the fun factor - it handles like on rails - decent boot and the suicide doors are a great idea. Unlike the Zed the interior plastics dont scratch as easily and are well screwed in. The Bose unit is the best stereo I ever had in a car (or house for that matter!) I had my black one with the red/black interior - I loved it as it was different and brightened up the interior, but we all like different things. Before you ask I got rid because you cant fit a dog in there (on shiny new leather seats) as well as a cement mixer and bags of sand etc? Well you can but I aint gonna wreck a car like that Good luck with your search - try one out and see how you feel - not for long distance driving as costly on petrol but great long distance cruisers though?
  14. Trying to scan a photocopied page via Optical Character recognition setup on Epson scanner so I can then import it as a Word document to edit it - does anyone know if this can be done? It imports the scan as a picture not text which is a shame - maybe beause its late and I am tired but I cant seem to suss this? Or cant you do it? Thanks in advance?
  15. no need for all this fancy stuff - its easy just look at your credit card statement and see how the pounds pile up every time you fill up !
  16. Thanks gents - will have a proper look after this weekends Welsh fun, worse thing is no Haynes manual for it -just a crappy yank one from Amazon. Hard enough trying to identify the components - not familiar with Diesels? I dont know if its electronic or manual - probably manual knowing VW - (solar powered! ) wll have a look through the manual I have? Well its gonna get a proper going over as I've started to use it for work more and more now - trying to save a bit on the fuel and Zed Merci...
  17. Ok thanks Stew I think we can leave the rest to the viewers imagination!! (I have suddenly stopped eating my tea now!) (almost as bad as the Chalet of doom in Fort Augustus! )
  18. Well ok - probably sweets this time instead
  19. I recon you will get a good deal now - with all the doom and gloom on the telly etc!! Probably buy an Aston now for the same money! good luck with it matey and let us know how you get on? Failing that just buy an Import Lot cheaper
  20. I know Mike I had a 1964 Splittie and a 1980 Wedge but I can fix them its the Type 4 newer one - you would have thought by 1998 VW would have made them keep up with traffic! Strangely you can run it on bio lard even in 1998! (The Germans are years ahead!)
  21. Hi folks I have a 1998 one of these - now I know its 10 year old Vw diesel technology but surely they cant be THAT slow!! Does anyone else have or has driven one of these and if so are they all the same? The turbo works ok I think and its a well looked after fully serviced van however when it gets up to about 55+ on the motorway - any hills it just runs out of steam? I know the later TDI technlogy is miles ahead but it must be able to keep up with traffic? Its done 75K from new btw. I will give it a full service soon myself but I am new to diesel engines so its an uphill learning kerb? Thanks
  22. Thanks Colin! I think I had that other lever on - the one between the 2 seats you lift up when parked - mind you it should not effect my speed much they hardly every work do they!! No cakes for you lot then Sod it I am going in the van and scare you all with my white van driving - just try to overtake me on those bends !
  23. You knwo you want to Stew!! Toilet humour is always good!
