  1. The coast line further up North were you and Colin went looked really good actually - maybe as mentioned a staged outing up there and nearabouts - maybe a few stop over points on the way up there - as its a long long drive? We went to say hi to Alex on the way back and went cross country from FA to the A9 for Perth - cant remember the name of the road (will find it) but it was fantastic - scenery was superb! Wonder if we could maybe incorporate that as a stage in the run up North? Ok its the A82 heading to Fort William from Fort Augustus then across country to the A86 then turn to the A889 which eventually joins the A9 - past the Dalwhinne distillery Here are some customers we saw waiting for a wee dram !
  2. I said before this years hoon we should have stayed in Ullapool on Sunday night. Maybe an idea for next year? Aye you did Lad - you young wipper snappers love these long treks up there fighting off reindeer in the dark! Have a wee word with Uncle Stew and see what options there are for next year? Might as well start thinking about it now while its in peoples minds?
  3. We love France also (but France does not love us - we always end up in A&E!!) go to the hoon next year trust me its worth it - I mean we went up there knowing we would'nt be able to do the run - but its worth the trip just for the good social side of things ...especially Mart and Liz who always make sure everyone is well looked after and no one has an empty glass!
  4. Thanks again Viks Well ok I cant just walk away from the Zed neither of us want it to go and looks like it will be part of babies life also for the forseeable future Thanks for everyones input on this subject its been a great help.
  5. yikes hope she feels better soon mate .... if she is bored I know a forum she could waste a lot of her time on
  6. Thanks Chris - but I think I will be keeping the Classic 350Z for a while longer until the bank manager tells me otherwise! Names thread hmm good idea matey!
  7. Looks like I am keeping Dino after all! Oh well better bling my van up a bit then! A handful of extra horsepower would be a bonus though!
  8. Colin you and June are hired ... in fact such an untapped resource of baby sitters Theres Uncle Stew and Auntie Jayne the Aberdeen connection Uncle Jay from the Glasgow part of the family Uncle Mike nearby in Manchester..to name a few... wow think I will keep the Zed after all .... Plenty of cake available at our house :
  9. Thanks mate - yes I know what you mean - its arranging baby sitting thats the problem we will have! But we met through the 350Z and this forum and to sell it is like selling the family silver so to speak! .....and you have already had to let half the family silver go Lets face it, having children will often mean the 2-seater cars have to go, if money/space don't allow for them. Are you really ready for that for the next 16 years+? Given you already have a small fleet of 4 seater vehicles, albeit a couple might need some TLC, and scope exists when the 3 (or more ) of you go out as a family, wouldn't it be nice if you or Lucy when wanting your own space or on those occasions when baby-sitting is available, still had the opportunity to enjoy the ZED? Over time your mileage would come down now you have the van, making it a long-term investment as 350 ZEDS will be classics in the not too distant future and that is clearly something that appeals to you both That said, you know June and I are so pleased for you both and life will now be taking on a new meaning having a child (apart from the expense) so whatever you decide will be right for you both and good luck to you. Our warmest congratulations Thanks Colin -your our official uncle and auntie from Epsom! What are you like at babysitting! Lucy had to sell one half of the family silver (well Gunmetal!) as it was very uncomfortable and not practical and yes I understand we will need time to ourselves to enjoy - the Fleet ( ) never intended to be a fleet. I do see the Zed as a future classic to pass onto the family and well to enjoy by us in our retirement - hope the club will still be around by then .. he he ... but at the moment my practical side is getting in the way of fun however maybe I should wait a while longer and see how things turn out near time of baby arrival!
  10. Thanks mate - yes I know what you mean - its arranging baby sitting thats the problem we will have! But we met through the 350Z and this forum and to sell it is like selling the family silver so to speak!
  11. Cheers mate - hey they would stop talking to us - where do I buy one!! Ohh and I want lots of chavvy fairy lights on it please!
  12. Thanks for the kind words folks. Lucy did have a Works mini doodar before and she loved it - I even suggested she gets the Clubman version (yuk I know but a compromise!) but she is happy with the Grand Vitara fortunately! I do actually like the look of the G35's the G37's are stupid money at the moment but maybe in a few years time they will drop, who knows. Bronzee a few neighbours have mentioned about keeping the Zed to just go for a run and clear your mind so to speak.... I do need the van, it costs me peanuts to run and I service it myself but I want to convert it to a camper next year hopefully for cheap holidays! Chris cakes and sweets always not far away as you know Having seen your replies, looking at the Zed shimmering in the morning sun today... I dont know its getting hard to walk away from it... maybe I should hold off a little longer and see if I still feel the same?
  13. Thanks mate - we are both looking forward to it - even the sleepless nights! Thanks Digsy Thanks Mike its still something to think about - saw a rare blue manual one for sale a few weeks ago - tempted! I wil let Lucy respond in the morning - she is desperate to get her posting up so she can get a free club sticker for the Grand vitara!! thanks everyone for your support - your our extended family
  14. geraghtyr200 - congratulations to you too - snap we have a January due date !- a proper 350Z-Uk baby ours! when I say selfish I am talking about myself driving it but it wont feel the same not having both of them with me for trips out? But yes originally we thought the 4x4 would take the family strain and the Zed just for fun and my work... I also have my old Beetle and Lucy's Wolseley as our other toys (put on hold now) so its not like we dont have enough to play with!! Thanks Dawn, thanks CS
  15. I know what your saying - I have thought about using the practical 4x4 at weekends and the zed only to work - but it will kill it - its the mileage thats the issue but unless I can change to a job nearer home I have to think of alternatives? Jay it will be black - its the only colour I want one! ............ I dunno maybe I should hang on until the baby is born and see how I feel then?
  16. Thanks mate Hey we always need 2x Night Blue ragtops in the club! (or country!!) I know what your saying - I already have my van on the drive and use that a few days a week to save the Zed a little but its not the most comfortable to be honest just too much money in the Zed to sit around during the week unfortunately. Stew thanks mate - I just cant have a boring normal saloon - even though its an auto the 300c is pretty quick and it does go round corners surprisingly!
  17. Hi Folks For those that dont know, me and Lucy are expecting our first baby its absolutely the best news ever for us both and we cant wait for the big day. However since Lucy recently sold her Zed to get a practical car I have been thinking how long I can realistically hold onto mine? Naturally a 2 seater car (quite selfish really when there will be 3 of us next year?) is not holding the same appeal to me it did when it was just the 2 of us. We loved going on the club meets and runs out especially the Hoon but we wont be able to do that anymore and its not the same just 1 of us going while the other baby sits etc. So I will most likely put mine up for sale shortly. It will break my heart but I keep thinking we need another car with 4 seats and preferably 2 more doors. This does'nt mean we will be leaving the club or wont turn up for meets as before we just wont be in Zeds. Hope it will still be ok to turn up and say hi? (With cakes or sweets of course!) I always wanted a Chrysler 300c (yes the diesel) since I do 3000 miles a month to work and back thats a lot of miles, tyres, serving costs etc etc. They are great long distance wafters with about 40mpg and have a great menacing yet cartoon like look which I really like and cheap now I have actually considered the G35 (which is the 4 seater version of the Zed) but I would be forever comparing it to mine and regretting it however the new G37 Infiniti coupe is a real option for the future when they find their way onto the second hand market and prices drop so hopefully veer back towards the Datsun brand! Enough ramblings just wondered what other people in a similar position have done or any thoughts on alternatives? I cant stand the standard Bland German offerings btw Common sense tells me to buy a Mazda 6 diesel or an Avensis but again - great solid cars but no soul! If anyone is seriously interested in mine please PM me for more pics and info if required. Thanks for reading - will put a proper ad in the right section later on.
  18. Great pics there folks - think thats a good idea Colin - use the Ullapool area as a base? Hey you need to give us a B&B review also matey?
  19. These are great Colin - wish me and Lucy could have joined you for this jaunt North - we always wanted to go that far up, maybe next year?
