  1. Buy a newer and hopefully longer lasting car that I hope will still have me grinning like loon but without the 'will it be this trip that something finally goes feeling'

I know it so well. As I say to my mates, turbo Nissans are reliable cars until you start messing with them. They then become "somewhat unpredictable" as regards reliability. ;)

A lot of the reason I chose my Z over the other cars I was considering (S15 Silvia, B10 Alpina amongst others) was the simple fact that it was newer and less likely to go wrong. Its been a long time since Ive had a car that I get into knowing that Im going to get to my destination without oily fingers (and oily fingerprints all over the bonnet) :D

I go to Le Mans every year and will take the Z this year - first time Ill be able to participate in the burnouts, rather than just watch and say "If only I had my Nissan here .........." B)

  2. I dont care what anyone says, and whatever the car is, two blokes in a convertible does NOT scream hetrosexual. Even a Lambo convertible suffers from that sadly.

Indeed. I recently went to a wedding, so was wearing a nice suit, and the prerequisite pink shirt/tie combo. There was a break in proceedings so I nicked the missuses car and me and a mate nipped down the pub for a swift one :)

By the end of the journey I found myself driving with a limp wrist on the door, my voice tone had risen considerably, and I felt this urge to call everyone "ducky". It doesnt get much gayer than two pink shirted men cruising in an MR-S with the top down, really ............

Although I think the convertible Gallardo is nice, I would stick with the coupe for that reason.

Avoid that reason by having a fine bird on your arm at all times. Shouldnt be too difficult with a Lambo in the garage ;):D

  3. Do not know if it really is the first one, LadyBoy had a pre-production one which was released and did not have the front strut, sure he said the early ones did not have one.

Chassis number Z33-000001 probably was the first one you know ;)

The fact its stored in Nissans own storage facility probably backs that up somewhat as well .......... :)

  5. Its a Kenwood but doesnt seem to have a model code - Ill check teh destructions this evening, but its got MD, CD, MP3, DSP, RC, and probably VD, TSB, RAF and 2CV as well ........... ;):D

Its pretty good actually although the speakers are a bit weak - we'll soon see to that :D

  6. Difficult really - having come from 200SX's and haviong driven/drifted a few mates skylines (R32 is the only way IMO ;)) I think youd probably find the 350 more fun down a country road, due to the smaller size, the squirtability and lack of laaag, but it doesnt have the awesome grip or top end grunt that a GTR does. Mine still feels a bit special to drive but then Ive only had it a couple of weeks

My fast 200 has about 310hp and feels faster than the Z, but I like the lack of turbo lag and the way you can pick a tighter line in it.

The obvious answer is to go drive it and see what you think, but I reckon youd be happy enough. There are alternatives to Middlehurst and Abbey for servicing these as well ;):D

  7. After a week of ownership, I was starting to get a little fed up of Terry bleeding Wogan in the morning so decided to do something about it - the HU in my car is very nice so rather than change it I went for a Frquency Expander

Contacted www.japaneseautospares.co.uk and ordered a Universal Radio Band Expander for £14.00 + P+P which took a day to arrive and about 15 minutes to fit, although annoyingly my centre console went back in a bit out of true so that something to have a look at next weekend

Anyway, worked first time so if you need one they come recommended by me

  8. 200 is difficult unless youve got unlimited space - we had an S13 200SX on the SXOC board with 615 hp, and that only (I said "only") managed 189 in 2 odd miles at Bruntingthorpe. Id wager the S13 is probably a fair amount slippier than the Holden as well.

Some of the Skylines boys have managed it, but all have been 600+ hp at the wheels. Either way Id have that Holden in a shot :D

  9. I can see that the word "literally" features highly here ........... :p

The car had a name, like the Yellowbird or maybe that one out of Gone in Sixty Seconds, and the kid had the same name. He and his Dad were both wearing T shirts with pic of it on there, so it obviously runs pretty deep with them

It was quite a hom name actually ........ bet the kid grows up with wrists too weak to change gear ;):D

  10. Hey mate you don't happen to stay in Haverhill do you?

I think my mate used to stay next door to you.... blue SLK Merc

    BTW Cool cars

Small world innit - thats actually the guy I bought it from's house - I live about 1/2 a mile up the road from him. I took it as a sign that there was a 350 with the exact spec, in the right colour, when I needed it that close to me ;):D

If you have ever spent any time there you have probably heard the S13 going past ......... :D

Think we have crossed wires....

The picture of the white car is in front of ma mates garage door, when he stayed there. I remember you had a few cars in bits right enough...

Blimey - that is a small world ......... :scare:

Quite possibly - usually have at least one broken car "decorating" the place up ;):D

Oh, and this 350Z thing that seems to have appeared on my drive recently :D

  13. I wonder what sort of person buys those things!!!

Hohoho - reminds me of my last trip to Le Mans, earlier this year.

Id gone over with my brother and a few Nissan owning petrolhead mates. Now I love Ferraris, and my mate Yakko is the same, so when we were wandering around in Arnage on the Friday (where everyone goes to show their supercars off) and saw an F40 at the top of the road we had to go and have a look - very nice it was too.

At the bottom of the road theres another F40 parked up, but we noticed immediately that this car is a bit different - the intercoolers, lights, exhaust and even the bodywork and colour are different. I confirm this with Yakko, then I notice a bloke wander over to it with the keys in his hand. Conversation goes like this:

Doc: "Alright mate, your car is it??"

Bloke: "Yeah it is, what do you reckon??"

D: "Well, its nice, but we noticed the lights, intercoolers and stuff are different from an F40. What is it - an MR2 conversion or something??"

B: "Errm, well its actually an F40LM special edition"

Yep, I had just accused the bloke with probably the best example of an F40 ANYWHERE* of having an MR2.

Fortunately he was a top feller - stood and spoke to us for about 3/4 hour about this and his other cars (he actually named his son after one of his Porsches) and then let said 8 year old jump in and fire the fezza up for us and the assembled crowd. Which was cool. B)

    * The car was an F40 LM, of which only 17 were made - see http://www.supercars.net/cars/3318.html for details. This particular one had just come back from a full mechanical overhaul at the factory, and must have been around the £500K mark. Definitely not an MR2 then :scare::blush: [/url]

  14. Hi all,

Just bought an import 350 with some fancy bits on it and thought I should stick an intro post in here as well as askign myriad Q's on the main boards :)

Im docwra and as well as my 350 at the mo Ive got a 300bhp S13 drift car, a 740 BMW, an S12 drift car and a Saab - the Saab and the Bimmer are going though coz they is broken. Im a moderator on the SXOC board so quite used to this forum business :)

Loving the 350 so far, and looking forward to using it properly over the coming months - found that its very easy to "lose control" ;) on roundabouts .......... could prove to be fun :D

Excellent board BTW, and for those interested theres some pics of me other cars below :)

My S12 budget drifter - welded diff, cut springs, 200bhp. Fun and cheaper than a holiday in your shed :D

My 740 - pimp. Never quite managed to get 5 bitches in the back but Im still trying.

My S13 - Nismo diff, HKS coilovers, GT28R turbo, massive intercooler, polybushes, bigger injectors, ported head blah blah blah. Goes very sideways very quickly :D

Just for fun the S13, S12 and another S12 I had at the time - Nissan coupes FTW

  15. I haven't seen anything about different suspension otehr than ESC and i haven't noticed any differences with the cars i've driven - but you may be right....

My 04 Import apparently has some kind of uprated suspension from the factory but Ive no idea what - certainly feels firmer than the UKDM model I drove a while back :)

Its also got Brembos and Rays, Nismo dials and a Momo wheel - could this be some kind of mysterious sport pack that no-one knows about??

  16. Ive just bought an 03/04 import and it apparently has some kind of sport pack or similar - its got a Momo steering wheel, Nismo dials, the Brembos and apparently some kind of uprated and stiffer suspension - it certainly feels a bit different from the UK models Ive driven.

Was there a factory option to upgrade the suspension?? I wasnt aware of the Momo wheel option or the Nismo dials from the factory, and if Im honest the LSD feels kinda different as well - its very quick to lock and extremely predictable (wonder how I found that one out ;)

While Im here as well, I need a frequency hoojamaflip for the stereo - know where I can get one and whats involved with poutting it on the haed unit?? :)

    Cheers

Your correct, there was no suspension upgrade, momo steering wheel or nismo dials option available from the factory :)

    no Sarnie your wrong :p

I have a JDM brochure that shows momo steering wheels and Nismo clock as an extra cost option, plus there are loads of other bits available that you dont see on the UK options list

    Ooooh :D

Anything on the suspension side of things, or LSD's?? Id be interested to know whats on it tbh so it takes longer for me to start throwing money at the bloody thing "upgrading";)

  17. Nice one - thank you gents (assuming you are all gents!)

PM's sent re: decats and I will be leaving the 155 limiter on for the moment as well ;)

The more I drive it, the more I like it - its so responsive and balanced compared the S-chassis Nissans I have had, and 6th gear is damn fine for the motorways as well. Im a happy man, me :D

Ill bother you with more as I think of it, but in the meantime cheers

EDIT: Just thought of one actually - where is the redline and peak power - Ive got my shift light set to 6800 atm, but having rwead on here it might be a bit high :scare:
