  1. As a pretty competent drifter myself, I can tell you theres no way you would ever catch me doing that if theres ANY other traffic about - its just stupid. The car waiting to come on the RB could have caused him serious problems if it had chosen to go.

I can also tell you that he has pretty weak skills, and again, its bloody idiotic doing that on a road at anytime, day or night if thats your level of talent.

As we say on a certain drifting board, street drifting is like getting at yourself - everyone does it, but its only the hardcore tossers that get their mates round to watch and film it :D

  2. In summary in a strightline there are plenty of faster cars out there, but as a complete package it it top notch.

Pretty fair comment that - I got my ass handed to me by a Focus RS the other day which was disappointing, but I was looking good while I got beat. B)

As for the Seat's, dont underestimate - my bro had his first tear up the other day with a standard looking Ibiza, and there was pretty much nothing in it. His Evo 8 is running 383hp/391 lb/ft. :scare:

  3. Looks like half the SXOC is in this thread :D

Ive still got a 270hp S13 convertible, a 370hp S13 and my brother has just bought a 400hp Evo, and its pretty much as the other say - you do miss the kick from the turbo and the noises that accompany it, but for me I prefer the more linear power delivery. The Evo is almost lag free and is savage, but is very difficult to find a rhythm in (mainly as you are braking a lot coz its so fecking fast), whereas the Z seems to flow a lot better.

Id add that for drifting the N/A delivery is streets ahead.

  4. If you get CF doors you will need to buy door bars too :)

I was thinking of getting carbon doors when I did mine, and just leaving a 10mm pinstripe so you could see the carbon. I actually spoke to R35LEE and you can guess the rest though .......... :D

  5. I love the s2k and it was a very tough choice before I went for the Z. personally I think the manic redline style of driving the s2k made driving more of a hoot but the z was just more of an overall package. Both had the performance but the z looked and felt better inside, and looks a hell of a lot better, modern and more aggressive with the exterior styling. Also if your going from an s2k to z then the z feels a lot heavier, but the fact it has so much more torque kinda makes up for that.

I finally made my mind up when I was test driving a s2k and saw a Z, instantly I knew I would prefer to be in that car.

Yep, was a difficult decision for me too, but glad I went the Z route - my brother has an S2K but is getting rid after about 10 months as its just that little bit too difficult to live with :)

Awesome cars but I find you need to be in the right mood to enjoy one.

  6. Cheers guys - Im really pleased that nearly all of the feedback has been positive. :D

The car needs to go down an inch or two, and the arches are perfect for the rims - they will tuck nicely. Unfortunately due to the protrudey front bumper its going to be a big NO for speedbumps, but it will look the tits. :cloud9:

Ive had a couple of people suggest a FOBW (its a BGW round my way - Big Gay Wing) but Im not sure ......... same goes for the front numberplate, I just dont know how Im going to mount it, but Im thinking a square plate down on one side.

The guy that did the work is Will @ Streetoptions - the arches are all fabbed out of metal and he reckons are tough enough to be rolled if I need it - shockingly good work.

Couple more stage pics from the build - Ill do a full project thread once Ive got some pics of it clean :D

  7. It should actually have been a carbon diffuser but we decided that the black would look better with the blue - if anyone wants a carbon diffuser let me know ;):D

It looks absolutely immense from the rear - you'll see once Ive got some proper pics up

  8. A little while ago, I had a bit of an incident involving a 350Z, a roadsign, a ditch and a hedge (in that order). The poor old thing didnt come out of it looking too good:

    IMG00030-20090306-1335.jpg

    IMG00031-20090306-1335.jpg

    Ouch. :(

So anyway, I decided that it needed fixing. OE Nissan Parts would have cost more than the car was worth, so I spoke to Mr Dan at SRB and ordered up a Chargespeed Type 1 kit - front and back bumpers, skirts and a carbon diffuser.

Next I decided that Id treat myself to some new wheels, as my missus had already nicked the Gram Lights you can see in that picture for her Onevia. I found a set on ebay, but unfortunately lost them at the last minute :(

Fortunately, the guy who won them is a mate of a mate (now a mate of mine too) Nick at Nickson Motorsport couldnt fit them so got in touch and offered them up to me. Nice one.

Except when I finally got hold of them, I found that they were rather larger than I had thought, particularly at the front. Unfortunately due to the enormous dish, they also wouldnt go anywhere near clearing my Brembos. Arse. :(

They did look awesome when test fitted to the (still bent up) car though, so I manned up and decided that it was now death or glory. I contacted Will @ Streetoptions and after a bit of a chat decided to go for it. The boy done alright, dont you think?? ;)

Shitty phone pics, but Badass. I got great pleasure yesterday from sitting in my living room, watching people nearly fall over from staring at it, probs trying to figure out what it is :D

Ill be doing a proper project thread once Ive cleaned it a bit, and it is going to be going lower so dont start, but Im pretty damn chuffed :D

Oh, and 10J ET -41 front, 10J ET -43 rear.

  9. I remember having this discussion on the 200SX webboard about 5 years ago. Sadly, our thoughts were proven right, but I dont think its down to the car TBH. Any good looking performance car will depreciate and once it reaches a certain level will become accessible to a wider market. Where a S-Class MErc or a Lexus will appeal to your Dad though, the Z33 will appeal to a younger, baseball cap wearing element.

As far as modifications go, I dont think the surface has even been tapped in the 350 world yet, at least not in the UK. Admittedly, there are some lary turbo and supercharger conversions, but Ive yet to see any mental wheels, crazy body modifications, engine swaps or drag/drift specials. Im probably going to sort two of them next week mind you ....... ;):D

Its not a chav car though, at least yet. Honda Civics, Saxos, Focii are chav cars and the 350 is in another league entirely.

  10. I think he means the scandanvians who win world rally championships ;)

So did I. If a Scando rally driver got to that angle he was going to spin - you dont invoke that drift angle outside of drift competitions. :)

Sorry, but I get sick of hearing "We were doing this in Escort/Capris/Morris Minors before you were born sonny" or "Rally Drivers do that with their eyes closed"

Drifting is having the car sideways before you enter a corner, and maintaining the maximum angle of attack whilst staying on line and hitting the apex, then keeping the car sideways for as long as possible on the exit. Any fool with RWD can do a powerslide, but its balancing the car before reaching the corner and then maintaining it thats the art.

Quite aside from that, Kawabata was doing close on 100mph in 4th for that corner, didnt drop much speed through the corner but then kept the car on the lockstops slowing back down to 30 odd mph for the next corner. You dont do that in a Cortina. :D

  11. The drifting world has been knocked even further sideways by an amazing reverse-entry four-wheel drift executed at a competition in Japan.

Driver Masato Kawabata was competing in a 591hp modified Nissan S13 240SX, and managed to enter the drift manoeuvre at a reverse angle that has drift-ologists everywhere dumbstruck with amazement.

That wasnt written by a drifter .......... :D

Backwards entries have been going on for years - the UK guys have started doing it now as well. Not as good as that, I hasten to add, but "dumbstruck with amazement" - errr, no.

Kawabata-san can pedal a bit, but has competed in the UK and been beaten by our boys on more than one occasion :D

  12. They look like BBS LM's, perhaps the mightiest wheel in the world ever. Difficult to tell from that pic though. The one below shows em off betterer.

    white-993-bbs-lm-21.jpg

The Rota "interpretation" is the GTLM, which seeing as a decent set of secondhand LMs is £1500+ might be worth considering ;)

  13. Turn in is lightning quick but its a bit of a nightmare to keep on a straight line on the motorway....

Do you go through tyres pretty quickly too? Bet they dont wear down evenly!

PS2s dont last more than 4-5k miles anyway....cant get any worse! :p:lol:

Wanna bet? 8 sets of rears in 13 months. :scare:

    Docwra, part time drifter ;)

  14. I'm running quite high camber on mine and it handles great but you go through the insides of tyres very fast :surrender:

At least that will match the rears then :D

How much is quite high?? What are your wheel specs too if you dont mind me asking :)

  15. Nice one - looks like its the upper wishbone that camber adjusts off of.

Phil @ Archenemy is a mate of mine and Paul/Pablo was at my house about 3 weeks ago donig the arches on my Onevia - I highly recommend both of them

  16. I test fitted my new wheels last night and due to the enormous front caliper and stupid wheels its lookign like Im going to need a 20mm spacer just to clear the brakes. This will leave my wheels (at least at the front) sticking out rather a lot, so it looks like me old mate camber is going to have to enter the room.

As I understand it, the Z33 has a double wishbone setup at the front, but which wishbone would a camber arm attach to? Also, is 2.5 degrees of camber realistic on a Zed, or do higher levels knacker up the handling??

Finally, has anyone had any major archwork done, and got pics of the outcome? I really want to fit these rims but its a bit touch and go atm

  17. Time has come to let a few sets of wheels go and first on the block are these babys.

Blitz Type 03 are now discontinued I believe, and a set in good fitments like these are absolute rocking horse - we have a 9Jx17 ET15 F, and 10Jx17 ET15 R. Being JDM they are strong and light, and all the girls will love you for running them*

Pretty much in mint condition, Im only selling them as they are too good to drift on. I got them when I bought the Onevia, but as you can see they look lovely on S13's as well - I cant find any pics of them on Z33's unfortunately.

Currently wearing brand new Pirelli P-Zero Corsa track tyres, Im looking for £1000 for these - you wont find another set like em, so well worth it IMO.

Excuse the rubbish phone pics - Ill buy a camera with the proceeds of sale :D
