  1. My flexi-joint has been rubbed a bit over some speed bumps and the nose has caught on some fairly easy looking uphill driveways. I also think one of the joints on the centre section of the exhast has met the ground at ome point too, from memory I think one of the bolts looks a bit too smooth...

  4. A car with the bodykit will be cheaper overall than fitting it yourself. I looked into exactly the same thing and ended up buying a car with the Nismo kit, exhaust and wheels already on it. You might need to reconsider your budget a bit though...
  5. Nice pics. I'd love to have a go in a Clio V6, but I suspect it's loads more tricky to handle than the Zed when pushed. So rare though, that's always a good thing because most owners will be real enthusiasts. I see so many Zeds about that are owned/driven by people who look like they couldn't care less.
  6. I can help if you like - what's the prob?

+1 - need to get me one of them. Still waiting for a stone chip reduction filter for my 350D I beleive the more practical option is Photoshop I'd love to have some wide angled lenses, but they cost far too much for just some shots of the car. Widest I have is the kit lense for my 350D which is 18mm iirc, but not wide enough to get the fish eye effect going. I also like the fact that you've kept the EXIF data, makes it easy for me to see the settings used and *cough* borrow them *cough* Well for anyone who will see my car in person, there was a lot of the 'stone chip reduction button' used in Photoshop for these shots (AKA clone tool). The front end of my Zed is peppered with chips and I'm still contemplating a re-spray, but I just know it'll get chipped all over again all too quickly. And as for the EXIF, I always leave it on there. I don't see the point of stripping it off as I've got nothing to hide and someone sometime might find it useful.
  8. I drove a car without the Nismo exhaust then one with it and I was instantly sold on the idea. It's loud enough for me, especially at about 3k RPM on the motorway.

the one i posted? it was, but i have no idea what or how Just a digital SLR camera with a wide angle lens. So in the world of photography - no, but it's not exactly a camera you keep in your pocket.
  11. I think I'd help him stick carboard and Z badges to the Gallardo for a couple of hours and be the passenger!

Thanks. What gallery is that Phil? For an online gallery these should be ok, a credit would be appreciated. For a print gallery I can do some prints and send them to you if you like? These photos are about the highest res stuff that I normally give away, to try to prevent people selling my work. I have sold single high res photos for >£2000 before that I thought no-one would ever be intereted in so I try to take the same precautions with every photos no matter how obscure! If you're interested (or anyone else for that matter) drop me a PM.

Thanks everyone. It hadn't been polished in months over the late autumn and winter and when the last couple of weekends were dry I put three coats of Zaino 5 on it. So not extreme polishing but not bad either! A Canon 5D with either 70-200L, 24-105L or 17-40L. I have a photography business so I've got some fairly decent kit. But as with everything I always want more and better stuff!
  14. I didn't spot this thread until prompted by Martin. I'm going to look for a passenger / co-driver, my girlfriend more than likely won't be bothered as she's not the slightest bit interested in cars. So I might be +1 later. 1. beavis +1 2. lomoto 3. Hi, I finally got round to taking a few more shots of my Zed. The weather wasn't great so the ol' faithful car park was the location! What do you think of the photos (not the car as I'm guessing if you've gotten this far you love Zeds!)?
  16. Yeah, I wasn't keen on the Pirellis this time, I had P Zeros previously and fancied a change. Oh well, if I don't spend the money on the car I'll only spend it on something far more sensible.
  17. Jesus. Fair play. Yeah lets see how it goes. That would be ok if we booked with a big organiser like White Rabbit Racing, or Team Langoustine (a couple of organisers I've found through Pistonheads). They have marked spaces on their sections of the campsite so you can turn up when you like (supposedly). It's such a good laugh, you'll love it. Last year was my first and the weather was shite but I still loved it. I'm not sure if I was lucky last year or what, but I booked my campsite about 4 days before we left and we managed to get Houx Annexe which is apparently quite difficult to get. Pity it looks like they're building a stadium or something on it now
  18. Very true. Basically, any kind of electronic control system in any car will only go so far. If you bury the pedal in the carpet in the wet then you have to be aware of the consequences. If we all drove totally manual cars (no ESP, traction control, ABS, power steering, etc) then we'd learn that it's not appropriate to floor it in those circumstances. Feather the throttle ever so slightly to feed the power in and it's much less of an issue. I don't want to sound patronising but I don't think tyres are your problem, it's your driving style. I'm guilty too though! As for tyres, I just put 4 Michelin Pilot Sport 2's (245/19 & 275/19) on my Zed because I couldn't get any other top branded tyre in those sizes I would have had Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric's, or Bridgestone RE050-A's, etc. But no, the only tyres that were available are the most expensive. £835 inc wheel alignment
  19. Hi all, Have any of you been to Le Mans for the 24hr race? I went at short notice last year and took the Zed and a mate and had a brilliant time. So now I'm interested to see if a few more people are interested... It would be great to do the drive in the convoy of Zeds, in amoungst all the TVRs, Porsches, Ferraris, Nobles, Astons, etc. Anyone interested? It's on the 14th - 15th June, but it would mean going on the 11th / 12th and returning on the 15th / 16th. By the way - who mods this forum? Why are all the old events sticky...?

    Debadging

I had a quote from a quality place in Bristol (Peel's Motorkraft) for the debadging & stone chip removal from the front bumper, bonnet and wings including blending for.... £795! Ok so I'm 100% sure that they will do a brilliant quality job, but that's a bit steep methinks. I think it's the blending that adds quite a bit to the price. I'll happily pay for quality as I'm very picky and will no doubt examine the finished job with a magnifiying glass, but what price do you think is fair for a top quality job? Why do you say that blending isn't required? Would the paint on the surrounding panels not have aged and bleached ever so slightly under the sun, etc and therefore not match the original paint spec? Then I'd guess that the hard edge from one panel to another would show a colour difference more?

    Debadging

What sort of price did you pay for the work? I take it they resprayed the whole front bumper and blended in the bonnet and arches?

    Debadging

Yeah I saw those pics when I did a search and it looks ace. I think I'd leave the side badges though even if they are a bit big. Getting some little Z badges from a 240Z would be good to replace them with.

    Debadging

Guys, I was wondering what the general opinion was on front and rear debadging? I hate the huge Nissan badges and I'm not sure the aftermarket Z badges look that much better. Has anyone seen a debadged car up close? I have read that the front can be difficult to do properly as a large area needs filling with plastic filler & chopped fibreglass strands. The problem is the heat during the summer causing the bumper and filled bit to expand slightly differently then leaving a mark around the edge of the filled bit. Does anyone have any experience of it working ok? As for the rear, I've been advised that the badge holes would need to be welded up to fill them so that there would be less hassle with thermal expansion like the front. Also I'm thinking about taking the Nismo rear wing off to leave the tail just smooth as I'm not a huge fan of big wings, but love the rest of the kit. But I don't know if having no rear lip or spoiler will actually cause instability at high speed (ala early Audi TTs). Maybe even I'll push the boat right out and remove the rear wiper to really tidy the back end up. Would you ever buy a car that had this work done, or would it put you off? (I know what I spend won't be recouped when I come to sell) Dave
  24. Hi mate, I joined ages ago but I don't post much. Just look in on the odd occasion.
  25. I got the PIAA ones and TBH I'm not sure they're that much better then normal. You still get streaks in between the supporting joints on the arm (uneven pressure). I'd be tempted to try some flat blade wipers.
