  1. And was that the day that led to your ban for a slight indescretion with the speed limit - so what was more painful, the loss of your licence or having to buy some new pants for the Mrs by the end of the day The earbashing was far worse than anything that the magistrate had to say, trust me! So have you not managed / wanted to hitch a lift with anyone, or are you going to rock up in an imported GT-R?
  2. Don't start on the photos.... If I had my way everyone would be up before dawn for a photoshoot on a mountain It'll have to be dull midday light in a car park instead I'm afraid
  3. I hope my comments didn't cause this... It certainly wasn't my intention. I gave up trying to race anyone yeeeears ago. That's the last thing I'm into and afterall we're all driving the same car (pretty much) so there's nothing to prove. However what I am after is enjoying the roads in a safe manner. Normally when it's safe to do so, I will overtake people on a NSL road when they are pootling along at 45mph. Any more than that and it's not normally worth it. On this day out I'll be hanging back methinks.
  4. Yeah good point. I'll have a chat with my mate (passenger) and see when he wants to go up then we'll leave it until a couple of days before to decide the route.
  5. Think you will be quite surprised, Bala to Ffestiniog to Betws-y-coed are great roads. Then we will be doing the evo triangle The only real attention we get is when you see the locals and tourists jaws drop in the villages. The roads look great, but I would think that in a convoy of cars there are going to be different tastes and you'll either get pulled along, pushed along or held up along the way (depending on your outlook!). I can't see myself overtaking anyone if I feel like I'm being held up, don't want to look like an idiot or to annoy anyone. But on the other hand if I feel like I'm not comfortable matching everyone else's pace then I'll just back off. Anyway, I'm making far more out of this than necessary. I'm sure it'll be cool either way.
  6. im driving through bristol to get there if that helps bud When are you heading up? I've not decided whether I'm going the day before or not... As great a sight and sound it'll be, I think that a massive convoy of Zeds will draw so much attention that a properly fun drive might be difficult. So I want to make the most of the trip and drive the roads around there either on my own, or with a couple of other cars. Hence a bit more time would probably be useful. im going up on the saturday bud about 1pm I can't decide if I should take the fun route up to Chester: Fun route link Or the boring route: Boring route link Maybe fun route up and boring route home...

  8. Indeed! Yep, fancy a mini-hoon on the way up? When are you planning on going? I'm undecided on whether I'm going up the night before or reeeeeeaaallly early on the Sunday to make the best of the roads in south Wales on the way... Oh and are you the sort of driver that likes to make a bit of safe progress, or going just for the scenery and social side?
  9. Mine is on Eibach springs so is about 25mm lower than standard, but it is on 19" wheels so overall I'm not convinced that I'm that much lower than one with 17"s or 18"s. The gap between the wheel and arch is less now though
  10. I used that stuff and it did clear up the smell for a while, but it's coming back. I think a visit to an A/C specialist for a clean is on the cards.
  11. Dave, remember anytime you need a Zed to test your drive give me a shout.
  12. I'm 6'3" and have no problems, the bottom of the steering wheel is a bit close to my legs, but nowhere near as close as my last car. If you're really thinking it's tight, a non-GT (without electric seats) may be better as I hear that the seats are lower overall - giving a bit more space.
  13. I normally try to get a wash in once a week, then a couple of coats of Zaino every 4-6 weeks. But recently I've got up early to get out and wash the car but thought, to hell with it - I'm going to drive it instead. Then went for a 5 hour drive over into Wales and come back feeling much happier than if I'd just cleaned the Zed. I wish I could trust someone else to wash it, I'm determined to keep the swirl marks to a minimum!
  14. About a 350 mile round trip for me, and I don't think it's that far... Didn't you buy the car to have fun driving?
  15. I'd be careful about avoiding the costs now, as you might find that whoever buys your car from you (eventually) might want to knock off the price of a set of xenons from your asking price. Then the cheaper lights will go in the bin/eBay. Scour all the scrap dealers, there must be a few Zeds that have been written off and have the required light still working?
  16. Doesn't the front lip stick out a bit more though? If ukdavew has a sloping drive then that might be a problem? But you're right though, I've never really checked to see if the Nismo kit actually changes the overall dimensions of the car. I suppose the most likely part that would change would be the side skirts?
  17. No problem, although mine is lowered slightly with the Nismo kit and isn't a completely fair example. But perhaps that's similar to any car you're looking for.
  18. Wessex aren't a great bunch IMO. I've had my problems with them, although my car wasn't purchased from them or an import. I would be surprised if they wouldn't service an import, I've never had trouble booking mine in (long waiting times) so I'm guessing they are never overloaded with work. For a car like this I personally would never buy from a dealer. Zeds aren't that dodgy to need a really good warranty (outside of the normal 3 years) from a dealer when purchased. Do your homework and buy private. I'm obviously in Bristol too, so if you ever want anything else, just drop me a PM.

    Spun it!

I'm glad this isn't another "Binned it" thread. Don't let it put you off, perhaps a half day car handling course might be useful? I've been thinking about doing one for aaaages so I can't talk but it might help you get back in the saddle more quickly. Glass half full: Take the opportunity to uprate the suspension?

Really sorry to see that mate. That must've shook you up quite a bit. At least it's only money eh? Better than being in a wheelchair or worse. Onwards and upwards, a 1 litre Corsa might respond a bit more to small mods unlike the Zed...!
  21. Sorry to be a pain, but can you update me to having a passenger now and another carvery please! Finally got round to asking a mate if he fancied the trip.
  22. Are the restaurant going to do a discount for this many people pre-booked, I hope so! All we need now is a deal with a local petrol station, top grade fuel (whatever your preference is) at a reduced rate... 2000 litres of fuel please, at 80p/L I'm not joking either.

  24. I knew I'd regret saying anything.
  25. Not sure why it would be fun to blind people. But if we're all trying to be considerate motorists (without wanting to sound like a pedantic old git) then when you're stopped and other vehicle has also stopped behind you, you should have your hand brake on and your foot off the brake. Assuming that the car behind has left enough of a gap so that if someone runs into them, they won't hit you. I was once sat still on a dual carriageway for about 4 hours after an accident had just happened up ahead. After about an hour of the Mercedes in front blinding me with his brake lights, I got out and tapped on his window and asked him if he could take his foot off the brake. He actually seemed quite sorry, and I think I saw him then put his handbrake on!
