    My sons car

kids eh Martin - don't you just love sorting stuff out for them!
  2. i once had exactly the same problem as that - however, it was a fiat uno not a Z!
  3. shame about the wipers on the sunset...........
  4. It would seem this is something they can do if they insist on keeping your vehicle for accident investigation purposes. We were only given notice today that we could collect it and obviously the lakes is a long way from where we live but still they will charge a daily fee from today. The actual invoice they have sent is for the statutory amount the police state - i.e 105 quid plus 12 per day storage (they've kept it a week, their choice not ours!) but all of a sudden lots of extras are owing which aren't even on the invoice - probably as they don't want the police to know what they are really charging! Worse than clampers and taking advantage - two of the others involved in the accident will probably never work again - hope they enjoyed ripping them off too! I guess most of the time the insurance stumps up - but not if you're only third party! I'm contacting the police tomorrow to find out what their policy is on this, then i'm going to have to pay for it and Martin is kindly going to just get it the hell out of there for me so I can pick it up later and then start trying to salvage any money back but I've probably got no chance!
  5. John Macadam & son of Carnforth obviously make rather a lot of money out of this - especially as there were 3 bikes involved and they have all been charged the same! Why the hell would you need to lift a bike that could be wheeled off the road with a crane? Not to mention he had his own recovery in place but the police insisted on doing it this way so they could examine it. So far this accident has cost £650.
  6. As digsy suspected: bike released today after being forcibly kept by police even though we had our own recovery in place. 399.38 plus another £6 per day as from today! Breakdown: 105 removal 6 per day storage 135 crane lift (the bike was pushable on its own wheels!) 55 labour 35 cleaning - what? VAT I was so angry I had to come home from work early! AND - even if he decided to scrap it, they still want the money!!
  7. apparently wherever it is the ba***rds want over £400 to release it! Surely that can't be right! The Police insisted on having the bike or we would have arranged our own recovery! Anyway, I'll find out more when I get home! The latest we're wondering is if he might possibly have a claim against one of the other bike's insurers. Worth a try.
  8. congratulations grandad phil!
  9. Hope you had a lovely time as well Sarnie - despite the rain (you sure martin mac didn't organise yours?).
  10. Can I just mention that this didn't have quite the right effect when I did it!
  11. Front Back Although the spacing as a bit different now after a brush with the law....
  12. looks like they somehow managed to get some dry weather! Hope it all went well for them.
  13. I was going to answer that one but thought better of it!
  14. well, it seems a reasonable way to move forward and put it behind you but I can understand your fear about the quality - at the end of the day you would think a decent place would never compromise their quality and reputation despite what they've been told to do! However, fingers crossed and best of luck to you - hope it turns out well and do keep us informed!

  16. No Lexx, they'll be after YOU! Think I'll be safe...........
  17. Looked really good in the flesh too - even in the rain!
  18. spot on there Lexx! Don't think any of you guys went to the loo on your own did you?
  19. maybe some other time - it would mean letting friends down i've had plans with for a long time. Anyway, i'm not really fussed about driving around the countryside on my own to be honest - I prefer company - even if it means the 'deliverence' pub!
  20. to be honest I've seen these on the wall and they are seriously a lot better than this post shows them. Some of the pictures were absolutely breathtaking. Liz has taken photos that I would frame and put on my own wall and I am VERY fussy!
  21. Unfortunately that's the same weekend at Trax and I'm already booked into my single room at Silverstone!
  22. It was great to meet everyone despite the rain, thanks to Martin for organising everything and thanks to Stan for dragging me along. (see, I don't always stay at home in the cupboard under the stairs!)
